Patti Boucher has been interested in the language of the heart for many years. Her desire to hear and speak this language led her to a B.A. in Psychology in 1974 and an M.S. in Counseling in 1978. Patti believes that movement, body language and the arts are expressions of deeply felt emotions and thoughts. Following this belief, Patti has explored a 20-year path of improvisational dance, intensive journal writing and Martial Arts. Vipassana meditation and wilderness adventures have deepened her connection with spirituality and the creative process.

Since the early 80’s Patti has been in private practice as a Marriage, Family and Child Counselor (MFCC) and Certified Massage Therapist (CMT) with an emphasis in Body-Oriented Psychology, Sand Tray and Expressive Arts. She worked for seven years at the Alternative Therapies Unit of San Francisco General Hospital, for five years with the homeless population in Marin County and in several diverse clinical and school settings with troubled youth. Patti is currently on the adjunct faculty of JFK University in Oakland, supervising students at the Counseling Center.

Strong influences on Patti’s spiritual journey have been intensive work with Arnie Mindell, Ph.D. and Process Oriented Psychology, 13 years of Vipassana (Insight Meditation) Retreats, and Angeles Arrien’s Four Fold Path. In the past decade, Patti has been retrieving the connection with her ancestors in her Irish and Choctaw lineage. Most recently she studied with Marshall Rosenberg, Ph.D. in his Non-Violent Communication methods, becoming a certified trainer in 1996. Patti also became certified in EMDR trauma work in 1998. Long-term sources of soul inspiration have been her involvement with the Bay Area contact improvisation community and commitment to QUIRK, a women’s dance collective.

Patti is dedicated to helping adults and adolescents integrate spirituality, nature and creativity into their everyday lives.
