Distance Education refers to methods of earning credit from a remote institution, such as correspondence courses, or internet-based instruction. With the increase in internet access in recent years, distance education opportunities have also flourished. The University Continuing Education Association (UCEA) maintains a current listing of distance learning courses at accredited universities.

If you watch PBS, you may already qualify for college credit just by passing an examination associated with their broadcast telecourses. The majority of these programs are part of The Annenberg / CPB Project, although some notable programs are available through their producers:
