Natural Sciences - Credit by Examination - CLEP

Be careful when selecting study materials for this exam! Until recently, there were several CLEP General Exams, one of which was the Natural Sciences General Exam. Although materials for that test will in large part be applicable to the newer Natural Sciences Exam, they are not specifically designed for it. You should also be aware that this class is intended for non-science majors. If you are majoring in one of the sciences, and think this exam would be an easy way to rack up some easy credits, think again! Most colleges will not award credit for this exam to science majors. As always, check with your particular college to be sure.

The College Level Examination Program ( CLEP ) is administered by The College Board, which also administers the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). There are currently some 2900 colleges and universities that grant credit based on CLEP exams. Each institution sets its own policy regarding CLEP credit, so you should check with the school you plan to attend for details.

Brief test descriptions for these exams are available online, but more detail can be found in The CLEP Official Study Guide 16th ed.
