Courses included training in the troubleshooting and repair of specialized pieces of Cryptographic Equipment and communications equipment. Electrical Tester: May 1995 to September 2003.
Applied electrical current to cables and wire to test for ground faults, voltages ranged from 500 volts to 150 kilovolts. Used Mega-ohmmeters and Biddle-Ohmmeters with mathematical formula to measure and record insulation resistance and conductor resistance, respectively, to ensure that wire and cable met or exceeded UL, AEIC, ICEA, CAS and other electrical specifications. First qualified to perform this job January 1990 and performed the duties involved when the tester was out or when the job was vacant. Required to understand and perform all the jobs in the quality assurance/electrical test department, the Electrical Lead Person and V&D Inspector jobs, (see below). Responsible for leading and directing others in the department on the same shift. Responsible for making decisions concerning sub-standard products.

Operated equipment that applied flat, aluminum and steel strip to the outside of cable to form an armor casing.

Visually and dimensionally inspected wire and cable to ensure that it met specifications using calipers, micrometers, microscopes, and other test equipment. Prepared wire ends for test. Drive forklift to load and unload test areas. Licensed to drive up to a 20,000lb forklift truck from August 1988 through September 2003.

Family business owned and operated by father-in-law, Gifford R. Timian.
During the three years I worked here part time I helped to increase profits by nearly 200%. Gained experience in the following areas; graphic design, flyer design, Internet World Wide Web (WWW) site design, product label design and creation. Newspaper insert design, and static television advertisements. Setup and maintenance of customer database and mass mailings to those customers using bulk mail through the U.S. Postal Service. General farm work, Knowledge of all phases of maple syrup production. Managed farm and the seasonal store/restaurant. Job ended because owner went out of business do to health issues.

Took orders by phone or at service counter for parts to various types of restaurant equipment. Researched parts in equipment manuals and breakdowns to find proper parts, part numbers, cost and availability for customers, Worked with equipment manufacturers to do the same. Entered orders into computer and maintained computer file on parts inventory and price.

Received warranty parts from customers and maintained inventory and paperwork for warranty parts. Shipped warranty parts to manufacturers for replacement. Electronics Mechanic:
Self supervised position as a field service representative for the 1998th Communications Group (CG) at McGuire AFB. Maintained and repaired electronic cryptographic equipment and communications systems at civilian and military installations on Long Island, in New York City, and upper New Jersey. Maintained field office on Long Island. Responsible for the maintenance and repair of approximately 50 pieces of cryptographic equipment ant their related systems. Reported equipment outages, repair actions, and general equipment status to the 1998th CG Job Control office at McGuire AFB.

Attained rank of Staff Sergeant, (E-5), January 1986. Performed same duties as where required of me in the position of Electronic Communications and Cryptographic Equipment Systems Repairman, (see below) while on active duty in the U.S. Air Force.

Job Controller, (Dispatcher), November 1984 to August 1985, (E-4)
Coordinated and controlled all electronic and communications equipment outages on McGuire AFB, its operating locations and detachments. Received reports on equipment outages and dispatched the proper repair personnel, usually by phone or by radio. Entered all data on equipment outages, downtime, repair actions and general status of equipment into computer for later analysis by headquarters.
 
Responsible for the security of classified information and the general security of the 1998th CG headquarters. Working mostly at night and alone on either the afternoon or midnight shifts was responsible for making command decisions and reporting and/or justifying them to the Commander of the 1998th CG, either at his morning briefing or immediately as the case required.

Maintained and repaired cryptographic equipment on McGuire AFB and at civilian companies in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. Also acted as a field service rep to companies in upper New Jersey and lower New York while the civilian position was vacant.
