FIRST GENERATION
1. William NICHOLSON was born in 1669 in Currituck Co., North Carolina.
He died before 1723 in Currituck Co., North Carolina. Served on a jury September
29, 1696-October 2, 1696 in Currituck Co, NC.
On October 2, 1696 Captain Thomas Relfe as heir by will to Thomas White
deceased, acknowledged conveyance of land to William Nicholson.
William was deputy Marshall in March 1696-March 1697.
William was member of House of Burgesses (Lower House) of North Carolina
for 1708-1709.

His Excelly the most noble Duke of Beaufont to all etc know ye etc that
we have given and granted unto William Nicholson 486 acres of land joining
on Mr Thomas Taylors line. Beginning at a red oak SW 104 poles to a pine
S4 W 50 poles to a Maple S 37 W 40 poles to a pine S 23 E 116 poles to a red
oak then S 56 1/2 E 120 poles to the main Road then S 38 E 72 poles to a
pine stump in Hosea Balls plantation S 27 E 40 poles to a hicory stump in
said plantation SE 40 poles to a stake where a pine and hicory had stood S
25 E 80 poles to a white oak then S 27 E 86 poles and 10 links to an oak stump
S 14 E poles and 8 links to a white oak at the Ready Branch then S 19 poles
to a maple then S 15 E 31 poles to a gum then S 35 E 36 poles to a red oak
then S 20 E 19 poles and 19 links to a pine stump then S 25 W 20 poles then
S 15 E 40 poles then S 60 E 26 poles, S 26 e 42 poles then on the Eastern
Swamp then along the said wamp to the beginning dated the 8th day of November
1714 Registered Currituck Co, 31 May 1714?
Received land grant around 1714 in Currituck Co, NC and named it Nicholson's
Point. The land has been passed down for at least nine generations.
The will of William Nicholson, dated 1721, filed October 8, 1723 before
Joseph Walker. William was of Corotuck Precinct, Albemarle Co and "in perfect
health". His son Josiah was left ? acres 'where I now live'. His son Theofilas
'part of the land where I now live'. son Anthony '100 acres where I now live'.
Daughter Sophiah Nicholson 'part of land called Gibsons, joining Gibson'.
Daughter Naomi Nicholson, land. Daw land. Sarah Simons, 'land where she now
lives'. Executor, son Josiah Nicholson. Witnesses Dayley Latter, Andrew Huddey,
John Crabb. There is a note The original is faint and difficult to read.
Sarah TAYLOR was born in 1691 in Currituck Co., North Carolina.
She died before 1721 in Currituck Co., North Carolina. William NICHOLSON
