Various websites that lean toward green I have found informational, educational, or entertaining.
Union of Concerned Scientists

The Union of Concerned Scientists is a nonprofit partnership of scientists and citizens combining rigorous scientific analysis, innovative policy development and effective citizen advocacy to achieve practical environmental solutions.

They publish a great reference book - The Consumer's Guide to Effective Environmental Choices: Practical Advice from the Union of Concerned Scientists

Treehugger

These guys don't exactly follow the "less is more" axiom, but the array of items featured on their site daily is pretty mind-boggling. If its a radical developing green technology, or a geek-cool invention, its in here.

Notes on Sustainable Lumber Labels

If you see this label - feel confident.

FOREST STEWARDSHIP COUNCIL or FSC
This group works toward managing forests for the long haul, preserving the environment as well as the livelihood of people who depend on logging to survive. http://www.fscus.org/

If you see this label - stay away.

SUSTAINABLE FORESTRY INITIATIVE or SFI
This is NOT a true sustainable label. Instead of being a certification by a third party organization, this is a group run by timber companies. They consider clear cuttiing the forest sustainable!

Environmental Working Group

These folks have an amazing amount of information, including studies and reports, about the types and amounts of pollutants we are exposed to every day. One especially useful section of their site deals with substances found in cosmetics and personal care products.

"Skin Deep" report

Did you know: the government cannot mandate safety studies of cosmetics, and only 11 percent of the 10,500 ingredients FDA has documented in products have been assessed for safety by the cosmetic industry's review panel.

Valuable information resource on all things organic.
