Laughlin Nevada

Started in 1966 on the banks or the Colorado River with a small 8-room hotel. Laughlin has grown into the second biggest destination for gambling in Nevada, behind only Las Vegas. Beginning with just one casino Laughlin now offers over 6 to choice from. Whether you like lying out on the beach at Harrah?s or checking out the Train memorabilia at the Ramada, Laughlin offers something for everyone.
Laughlin has only one main street that all the major casinos are located on. Including Don Laughlin?s Riverside, The Golden Nugget, Edgewater, Colorado Belle, the Ramada Express, Pioneer, River Palms and Harrah?s. All the casinos are with in walking distance but with Harrah?s on the top of a hill this one is a bit of a hike. If you don?t want to walk you can always take a water taxi. For only $2.00 one way or $3.00 roundtrip you can be whisked along the Colorado River into any of the casinos except the Ramada (not located on the River). If taking a water taxi take it at night the neon from the casinos are worth the trip alone.
There are many nice Casinos in Laughlin but Harrah's and the Ramada Express are the standouts in my book. Harrah's is a great place and well worth the effort to visit. Harrah's offers a beach, a spa and a large casino floor featuring all the games you want to play and a rarity in casinos, windows. The other standout is the Ramada with a Victorian decor and a Railroad theme. Tons of good machines and tables, good food and a great staff it has it all including Chicken Tic Tac Toe.
Another casino worth mentioning is the Pioneer a locals hang out with low table limits and good home style cooking, the snack bar is a must huge portions, and low prices. Done in a western theme even including a wooden sidewalk.
Making your way here is a little tricky since only a few airlines fly into Bullhead City (nearest city located in Arizona) but you do have the option of flying into Vegas and driving (about 2 hours drive). No matter how you get to Laughlin it's worth the effort.

Ramada Express Laughlin Nevada

A sister casino of the Tropicana in Las Vegas the Ramada Express is a jewel in the city on the river. When I made my reservations for New Years Eve I didn't expect much from the hotel, I thought it would be like any other Ramada. Checking in I was pleasantly surprised by the hotels train theme but done in a Victorian decor.
Checking into our room on the 22nd floor we had a great view of the Colorado River and Arizona. The room had 2 full size beds, a table and chairs, dresser, in room ironing board and coffee maker.
The casino floor was very larger with lots of table games, video poker, and slots. The latest promotion is Tic Tac Toe versus a chicken with a top prize of $5000 for beating the chicken. But be warned rumor has it the chicken has only been beat twice.
We had dinner in the Italian Restaurant Passaggio. I had the Veal and my girlfriend had the Chicken Parm both where great, the Chicken Parm was even breaded by hand and made from scratch. With lots of bread and salad the meal couldn't be beat, the best Italian food I have had in a long time.
Another highlight is the "Genoa" a Replica Train that goes around the resort not a large track but fun and well worth the time to check out and go for a ride.
Next time you go to Laughlin do yourself a favor and stay at the Ramada Express, friendly staff, good food and nice rooms.visit online at Ramadaexpress.com.

Main Street Station Casino

The Main Street Station Casino located directly off of Fremont Street at 200 North Main Street is a must see when visiting downtown Las Vegas. Main Street offers 406 rooms beginning at $35.00 a night. A Victorian theme includes historical treasures, opulent chandeliers, stained glass windows and four antique railroad cars.
A walkway from the Fremont Street Experience to the Main Street Station includes World War I era street lamps from Belgium. Overhead the casino is a chandelier from Figaro Opera House in Paris. The casino cashiers cage features the bronze grillwork of the teller windows from the Barclay Bank of London. The highlight is in the men restroom a piece of the Berlin Wall, urinating on is optional.
One of the antique railroad cars is now used as a Main Street Station Cigar Bar. Another of the cars was used by Buffalo Bill Cody and hosted Annie Oakley as well as Teddy Roosevelt.
Eateries at the Main Street include the Pullman Grille featuring steak and seafood. The Triple 7 Brewpub offers a variety of microbrews produced on site, wings, burgers and sushi. The Garden Court Buffet is a great buffet offering all the Las Vegas favorites such as pizza, pasta, barbecue, and many other options. If visiting the Garden Court Buffet go on Tuesdays and have the all you can eat T-bone steak buffet well worth the effort.
Main Street is connected by an enclosed walk way with its sister casino the California Hotel and Casino also owned by Boyd Gaming Corporation. Other properties owned by Boyd Gaming include The Fremont and the Stardust Resort and Casino.
