3 Card Poker Basics

A game that has caught on over the last few years is 3 Card Poker. A fun game you can learn to play in 5 minutes.
The betting for 3 Card Poker is as follows. There is a spot for a "Pairs Plus" Bet which can be played with or with out the regular bet. The pays are based on a payout schedule beginning with a pair or better.
The other bets are the "Ante" and the "Bet". When beginning the game you must place a bet on the "Ante" and if you decide to play you must lay a wager of an equal amount for the "Bet".
The game is played by the dealer and the all players each receiving 3 cards. From these 3 cards you decide to play or fold. To win you must beat the dealer's hand and the dealer must qualify with a queen high or better. If your hand beats the dealers but he does not qualify you only get paid for the "Ante". The basic strategy is to mimic the dealer meaning play your hand on a queen high or better.
I hope this information helps you enjoy your gambling experience more. Good luck and good gaming.

Reno Fitzgeralds

I have stayed at the Fitzgeralds in Las Vegas and really enjoyed it but this was not Vegas. The Fitzgeralds in Reno is separate from Boyd Gaming which owns all others including Vegas.
I have been to the Fitz in Reno many times but this was the first time I ever stayed there and maybe the last. I checked in on Thursday at 4pm. No problems here the people where nice only one odd thing which was a fifty dollar deposit on the room but no big deal.
I had to meet a friend so I didn't have time to check out the room. I asked the bell desk if they had a shuttle to the airport and was told yes it would leave in 15 minutes outside the Casino. I played a slot for 5 minutes then went out to wait, and wait, and wait some more. After 20 minutes I asked an employee at the valet about the shuttle who told me that he had never seen a shuttle for Fitzgeralds. Frustrated I left and caught a shuttle at another casino.
After meeting my friend we went back to the hotel. The room was ok at best located on the fifth floor. The view over looked the train tracks, certainly nothing special. The room had 2 full beds with ugly brown covers, 2 out dated chairs, a TV, table and a dresser. The bathroom was fine but nothing to write home about.
For the next 2 days we gambled and ate at the Fitz. My food was average (2 eggs, hash browns, and chicken fried steak). My friend had the hot wings, the worst he had ever had, over cooked and not hot with bad flavor all around.
The gambling was terrible for the machines, but good for tables. 3 card poker treated me fine, Let it Ride was fun, Blackjack seemed ok and my favorite game at the Fitzgeralds (never seen it anywhere else) is Deuces Wild Poker.
I had one really bad experience, it was about 1am and I ordered a beer, the waitress that had served me many times before took my order. When she came back with my beer I was moving machines and was told I had to play to get a drink. What makes me so upset about this is that I was gambling when I ordered and had been gambling all night plus I was only changing machines. I felt the attitude was uncalled for and I experienced this all over the Casino.
To sum up I can tell the difference in the 2 companies that own Fitzgeralds. Las Vegas is friendly and helpful; I would recommend it to anyone. Reno is the total opposite, I only experienced a handful of helpful employees and I would recommend to no one.

Golden Gate Casino

Every now and again you stumble across a great deal on Food. Yes in Vegas it happens more often but the Golden Gate Casino has a great deal. $7.77 for a 16oz porter house steak.
Let's start with a little background on the Gate built in 1905 and opened in 1906 it is the oldest operationg Casino in Las Vegas, in fact some of the oriinal rooms are still in use today. It's a small Casino with about 6 or 7 tables and a few slots, a real small town feel.
The steak mentioned above was what got me in the door. I was walking down the street trying to figure out where to eat when I looked up and saw a small wooden sign outside the Casino that simply said "16oz Porter Steak $7.77". It was like a message from God.
Arriving at the Bay City Grill it was busy so myself and my 2 friends where told it would be about 10 minutes or we could sit at the counter, we gladly took the counter.
After looking over the menu I asked if this was the place for the $7.77 steakd and was told yes. With this my mind was made up. We all had the Porter meal, 2 rare and 1 well done. This came with soup or salad, a roll, vegetables, and potatoes either baked, mashed or fries.
After ordering the steak I got a coke, a nice thing since almost all Casinos offer Pepsi. Almost instaqntly after recieving my Coke my salad showed up with what turned out to be excellent blue cheese dressing, even chucks of blue. Finishing the salad the waitress was right there to clear it away with the steak right behind. The baked potato was good, though more sour cream couldn't of hurt, carrots where a little over cooked but tasty and good. The steak was great 16oz of lean meat cooked nice and rare for myseldf and my friend Jules, well done for the other freak. One thing we all agreed on was the steak was tender and juicy even the well done steak. During diner we all noticed a couple of things 1) no one in the restaraunt ever ran out of something to drink, 2) the shrimp cocktail looked great big and pentiful for only 99 cents and ecellent deal. On a latter visit I tryed the Shrimp Cocktail and it was as good as it looked.
After finishing the steak a bill arrived quickly with a smile but not rushed. The Golden Gate has on of the best deals in town on you next trip to Vegas do yourself a favor and visit the Gate.
