Reno Fitzgeralds
I have stayed at the Fitzgeralds in Las Vegas and really enjoyed it but this was not Vegas. The Fitzgeralds
in Reno is separate from Boyd Gaming which owns all others including Vegas.
I have been to the Fitz in Reno many times but this was the first time I ever stayed there and maybe
the last. I checked in on Thursday at 4pm. No problems here the people where nice only one odd thing which was a fifty dollar
deposit on the room but no big deal.
I had to meet a friend so I didn't have time to check out the room. I asked the bell desk if they had
a shuttle to the airport and was told yes it would leave in 15 minutes outside the Casino. I played a slot for 5 minutes then
went out to wait, and wait, and wait some more. After 20 minutes I asked an employee at the valet about the shuttle who told
me that he had never seen a shuttle for Fitzgeralds. Frustrated I left and caught a shuttle at another casino.
After meeting my friend we went back to the hotel. The room was ok at best located on the fifth floor.
The view over looked the train tracks, certainly nothing special. The room had 2 full beds with ugly brown covers, 2 out dated
chairs, a TV, table and a dresser. The bathroom was fine but nothing to write home about.
For the next 2 days we gambled and ate at the Fitz. My food was average (2 eggs, hash browns, and chicken
fried steak). My friend had the hot wings, the worst he had ever had, over cooked and not hot with bad flavor all around.
The gambling was terrible for the machines, but good for tables. 3 card poker treated me fine, Let it Ride
was fun, Blackjack seemed ok and my favorite game at the Fitzgeralds (never seen it anywhere else) is Deuces Wild Poker.
I had one really bad experience, it was about 1am and I ordered a beer, the waitress that had served me many
times before took my order. When she came back with my beer I was moving machines and was told I had to play to get a drink.
What makes me so upset about this is that I was gambling when I ordered and had been gambling all night plus I was only changing
machines. I felt the attitude was uncalled for and I experienced this all over the Casino.
To sum up I can tell the difference in the 2 companies that own Fitzgeralds. Las Vegas is friendly
and helpful; I would recommend it to anyone. Reno is the total opposite, I only experienced a handful of helpful employees
and I would recommend to no one.
