A sunrise paddle on the bayfront -  August 6, 2005

The high temperatures and my inability to get up early has really limited my paddling the last month.  Sat morning there was a club trip scheduled for 7am. I decided I would make the effort to join this trip.  I actually arrived a little early and got a couple of sunrise pictures.  We left the beach at the Emerald Beach Holiday Inn and paddled past downtown Corpus Christi to the aircraft carrier Lexington.  We briefly spotted one dolpnin. He was busy chasing the shrimp boats in the ship channel so we did not get any up close interaction.  We paddled by the Lex and took a brief break on the south end of North Beach.  The trip back was a little hot but we all had a good time.

I was amazed that I actually got there early enough to have time for a few pictures

Only 5 kayaks out that day, but for us that is about a normal group

Everyone in our club has to have their picture taken here at least once

It is a public beach and your are allowed to use the hotel parking area.

I was hoping that was not going to be a thunderstorm a few hours from now

New paddlers always enjoy paddling under the Lex
