Restoration History
Throughout time people have collected antiques to preserve a connection with the past.
Many collect items that remind them of their younger days or a great memory or moment in time.
Others try to maintain items in the exact condition they were when they were first manufactured.
This hobby allows individuals to display items as well as to highlight their own talents in restoration.
Many of the individuals that do restoration are also involved with museums, living history or reenacting.
All of these help others to see the items as they were in their own original time.
Aside from restoration of homes, cars or antiques, here are a few more unusual ideas.
The items restored can range from Civil War cannons to WWII tanks.
Not all are military related though, there are many train and plane restoration projects under way.
If this hobby seems to entailed or expensive then you can always construct a model kit and detail it as you would the original item.
You can visit our Modeling website for more info.
Many of us gamers have a great interest in WWII vehicles.
We attend a local show that highlights this era.
You can check out our page at Military Vehicle Restoration that displays photo's of restored vehicles.
NOTE: This page is graphically intense so be patient with loading it, we are sure you'll be glad you did.
Those of you that have access to military bases should check out the Aberdeen Proving Grounds dispaly of military vehicles
in Aberdeen Md.
A comprehensive description of all the types of restoration requires more space than we could ever attempt to cover.
As such, we have selected a few pertanent websites to recommend.
Please contact us and let us know if any of the links are no longer active.
