The fifty valedictorians and salutatorians featured in Nisei Voices attended 42 public high schools, junior high schools and grammar schools in 35 cities and towns all over California in the 1920s and 30s.

The table below has the list of students sorted by school, city where the school was located, student's name and the topic of his or her graduation speech. More than half of the students in Nisei Voices are female.

During World War II, almost 75 percent of the scholars were incarcerated in concentration camps by the U.S. government. Some avoided internment by moving away from the West Coast. Others were in Hawaii, Japan, Taiwan and China during the war.
