Although it's not a popular ("respectable"?) art genre in our society, this artist's primary interest is the male figure. He wants to celebrate the beauty of the male body with images that are frankly sensual, even erotic, making those images visually interesting, creative and simply a delight to the eye. They might be rather abstract, but are without the usual effects that make much digital art so obvious and cold- long on technique and short on emotion.
Admittedly, this artwork can only be fully appreciated by a minority. Some will not like some of it and call it pornographic. Others will like it and agree to describe it as erotic, homoerotic, a celebration of men having fun with their bodies. There is no social comment here, just visual entertainment. Titillating? Hopefully. The aim is to give the artwork aesthetic value ("artistic merit") and interesting, pleasurable content. If you are one to denigrate the content, then don't be prejudiced against the aesthetics. But is is possible to apprecaite one and not the other.
It is a mystery to this artist how so much of what he has seen exhibited and covered by the artworld media appears to him so uninteresting, "minimal", cynical, or trendy. Where is the artistic merit, good ol' beauty, and enough content to hold one's attention for more than two seconds? Sour grapes? Perhaps. But this artist is frustrated with not finding a venue to share his art (other than on his web site), never mind any fame and fortune.
Usually starting with photographic images, he works on them
using the wonderful tools only available with a computer and then
outputs them as limited-edition prints directly from the computer
digital file, or transfers them to a panel and retouches with
oils ("mixed media" or "collage & oils")-
an enduring "collectible" of artistic value. The resulting
imagery of "hims" is what is called "HIMagery".
