1923 Map of Colver
Colver PA was created for one reason - to mine
coal. A good example of a planned company
town, the heyday of this community was the
period between 1910-1950. A careful reading of
the geography of this town speaks of rigid social
and ethnic divisions and the power of capital to
shape people and places. These maps, now the
property of the State Museum of Pennsylvania in
Harrisburg, are to be used in a new gallery at the
State Museum, opening in 2003, that interprets
'Pennsylvania and the Land'.
