Block Material Analysis

pkaneblockanalysis.jpg

We scientifically analyzed various cylinder blocks for their metallurgical make-up.  The blocks that were selected represent all three of the casting foundries that created the 385 Series cylinder block castings (Detroit Iron Foundry; Michigan Flatrock Foundry, Cleveland Cast Products). The material samples were randomly taken from cylinder blocks of various engineering revisions.  All analyses were executed on a scanning electron microscope.  The results are below in PDF form.

(Block material analysis is still under investigation;
please check back occassionally for updates.)
