Introduction
Highlander follows the adventures of two Immortals. Conner MacLeod and Duncan MacLeod. Conner is the older (b. 1536) Immortal and the main character of the Highlander movies. Duncan is slightly (b.1592) younger and the main character of the TV series. Conner was the teacher of Duncan, and have only appeared together in the pilot episode of Highlander: The Series, entitled "The Gathering". HOWEVER, according to the Adrian Paul Home Page, Adrian and Chris Lambert are going to do a new Highlander movie together.
The
movie Highlander was released in 1985. It introduced us to Conner MacLeod, born in the
village of Glenfinnan, on the shores of Loch Shiel. He was made Immortal in a battle
between the clans MacLeod and Frasier. He was mortally wounded by The Kurgan, the 3000
year old Immortal, who was touted as the "strongest". The Kurgan was drawn to
Conner MacLeod by a prophesy about a child born of Highland descent who would kill him.
Conner's clansmen stopped The Kurgan before he could deliver the decapitating blow, which
would end the short Immortal career of Conner. Conner is driven from his village, and
marries a woman named Heather. We are then introduced to Juan Sanchez Villalobos Ramirez
(also known as the Egyptian, Tak-Ne), who becomes Conner's teacher, and helps him to
understand his potential. Ramirez is eventually killed by the Kurgan, who comes looking
for the Highlander. Conner stays with Heather until she dies of old age and then takes up
the sword of Ramirez and goes out to seek his destiny in The Game. Here is the recommended
viewing of the Highlander movies:
Highlander (the Director's Cut)
Highlander: The Final Dimension (also available in Director's Cut)
As a side note, watch Highlander 2: The Renegade Version, but do
not watch the original version of H2: The Quickening, because is SUCKS! I'm not going into
the details here, but trust me on this one....
Highlander: The Series gives us Duncan MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod. The series premiered in 1992. The pilot, called "The Gathering" has Conner MacLeod and Duncan MacLeod on the same screen for the first and only time to date (see note above). Duncan is joined by the love of his life, Tessa. We are also introduced to Richie Ryan, who has almost as big a following as Duncan himself. Both Richie and Tessa are shot and killed in the fourth episode of the second season called "The Darkness". Unfortunately for Tessa, the writers saw fit to make Richie an Immortal and not her. Good! She whined way too much anyway. The 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th seasons of Highlander are available for purchase from the Highlander online catalogue.
Rules of The Game
Even the most evil Immortals will live by the rules of The Game:
1. Holy Ground. The only place an Immortal is safe from another Immortal. This is their only refuge.
2. Once a battle is started, no one may interfere. This prevents tag-team beheadings.
3. In the end, THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE!
I will soon be adding links to hook up to other Highlander sites.

(mainly Japanese) go to my Sword page.
The music you are hearing is "Princes of the Universe" by Queen. It is the theme for Highlander: The Series. It can be found on the CD "It's A Kind Of Magic" along with other songs from and inspired from the movie. It also has a couple other songs from movies they did the music for.
