In November, 1983, we signed our first licensing agreement with Bill Griffith, creator of Zippy, to fabricate, produce and distribute nationally and internationally soft dolls and puppets of all sizes of Zippy the Pinhead and members of his
Cartoon Family.
And we did. In a hot tub emporium in Berkeley we turned out a special limited edition of 3 ft Zippys. We kept their stuffing in the outmoded wooden tubs, worked all hours of the day and night, enlisted special kids as stuffers and drove around in cars with the pinhead for a passenger.
We moved from Berkeley to Oakland where, on Emerald St we made a less expensive model with a silk-screened face. We produced them in the thousands for the Spencer Gift Co.
The old Singer made thousands of Zippy legs
