Working
with Internships
in
Veterinary Diagnostic Pathology
During the past 40 plus years this laboratory has had the
pleasure to provide numerous internships, providing a unique
opportunity to experience the world of veterinary diagnostic
pathology. These are sometimes paid internships, but mostly
without
pay. Veterinary schools like applicants to have "veterinary
experience" so students realize what they are getting into when
applying
for admission. We provide aspects of the profession generally not
provided elsewhere. Most go on to become veterinarians, clinical
laboratory technicians, or Registered Veterinary Technicians.
Some of the ones that became veterinarians include John
Adaska, DVM, ACVP, Keith Hilinske, DVM, Charlie Steiner,
DVM, Barbara Williams, DVM, Amanda Perry, DVM, Lance Gibson, DVM, and
Elizabeth Grey, DVM.
Several veterinarians that we have influenced to become pathologists
include James Britt, DVM, ACVP, John Adaska, DVM, ACVP, and Nancy
Winjum, DVM, ACVP.
Several veterinary students who have interned with us during the summer
include Richard Morris, as a 4th year student from
England, and Danielle Shaffer, as a first year student at the Western
University of Health Sciences, School of Veterinary Medicine.
