first students for the program performing a necropsy on a female
California desert tortoise. Death was due to toxemia as the
result of being an internal egg layer. The right oviduct had a 2
lb. mass of necrotic decaying eggs that failed to pass. The
tortoise was between 50 and 60 yrs. old. June, 2006
