The San Diego Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory
is honored to be the regional independent study center for
The Charles Louis Davis Foundation for the
Advancement of Veterinary and Comparative Pathology.

The Charles Louis Davis Foundation is an international organization whose mission is to further advance veterinary and comparative pathology education.  Through a variety of outreach educational programs, the foundation strives to enhance the study of the diseases, and the comparison of diseases, manifested by diverse species of animals.  In the pursuit and dissemination of such knowledge, the foundation hopes to improve the health and well being of all animals in their world, including man.  San Diego is proud to be the West Coast regional independent study site for the foundation.  Thousands of micro slides along with many audiovisual case studies are maintained at the site for use by interested scholars.  The study sets are provided free to anyone who wishes to study at the San Diego site.  The site attracts students and pathologists from around the U.S. and the world, including Mexico, Costa Rica, and South Africa.  These visiting scholars, in turn, bring their own knowledge to the study site, pose challenging questions to staff pathologists and help to create an invigorating intellectual atmosphere at the San Diego County Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory.

For specific site use information contact the laboratory and site director Nikos Gurfield, DVM, DACVP, at nikos.gurfield@sdcounty.ca.gov
