What should I wear to Glory Day?

Dress in your best red & purple, with your favorite hat.

 

Are hotel fees included?

The hotel is separate & is not included in registration fee. You must make your own reservation. The fee is $85.00 for one or two, and the cost goes up a bit for more than two in the room. Do I have to pay the Sparkle Reserved Seat Fee to sit with friends?

If you pay the fee, you’ll be SURE that there’ll be room at the same table. You MAY still find seating enough for you and your friends, but it isn’t guaranteed. Only ten gals per table.

 

What about Sunday breakfast? Can I register for the breakfast only?

In order to attend the breakfast, you must register for Glory Day VII.  We will have a WIG & WACKY EYEWEAR competition for breakfast. Anyone who wants to participate in the competition is eligible. Other than wigs, you’ll want to dress for traveling back home. No need for PJs.

 

Do I have to be a registered RHS Supporting Member to attend?

Any woman with a hat on her head can participate! No official affiliation with RHS is needed.

 

Are we supposed to bring a stick horse for the Derby?

No, this is not a Western theme, and is not that type of event. 

 

How will we participate in the Derby Race?

Tickets will be available for sale, so that you can “bet” on your favorite horses. Tickets will be placed in baskets for each horse you think might win. Cash prize winners will be picked from the baskets for the first three horses to the finish line. The more tickets sold, the bigger the winnings! All funds will be disbursed to winners. 

 

How do I participate in the Hat Parade?

Parading is not mandatory. Anyone who wants to participate in the parade will be able to do so.

 

Will a Ms. Glory Day VII be chosen this year?

Most definitely! A secret panel of judges will be chosen to pick this year’s lady of the year.

 

Will vendors be available all weekend?

Vendors will only be there Saturday.

 

What is this about Shannon’s Grill?

This is a restaurant/lounge in the hotel. They have TVs, so we can gather later Saturday, and watch the Kentucky Derby. Come join us for the race, cocktails, coffee and/or dinner…whatever!  Later in the evening there will be a live band, with dancing. Anyone who stays at the hotel does not have to pay cover charge for band & dancing.

 

Can I use a credit card for Glory Day registration?

 No, we do not have the set up for receiving credit cards. Each participant must complete & submit a separate registration form and include payment by check. Be sure to complete the registration form.

 

What if I register, and later realize that I am unable to attend?

 The registration fee is NON-REFUNDABLE.  NO EXCEPTIONS If we have filled the event, and later have cancellations, we MAY be able to fill your reservation from a waiting list.  Please let us know if you are unable to attend.

 

Why is there an additional fee for dietary/medical needs food offer?

 We have negotiated a bare-bones price with the hotel.  You must pay the dietary needs fee if you REQUIRE special foods. You will be given special ID to indicate that you have made previous arrangements. The wait staff does not have the authority to provide an alternate meal or honor specific requests, without having the special ID to indicate that you’ve made previous arrangements.

 

Will discount hotel rates be available to me before and after Glory Day?

We’ve only made arrangements for Friday and Saturday night rooms. You can contact the hotel directly to see if they have any special offers for dates outside of what we’ve arranged.

 

Do I have to wear my event I.D.?

 YES

 

If I don’t register for the event, can I simply come and shop?

No, only registered participants will be admitted.

 

 

Will I receive a registration acknowledgement, e-mail or receipt for my check?

NO, checks will be deposited within 30 days of receipt. Check your bank statement or cancelled checks to be certain that your check has been cashed/received.  **There is a $35 bank fee for returned checks.**

 

Will you tell us about the entertainment in advance of registration?

 NO WAY!  We love surprising you!

 

What will we do about dinner Saturday night?

A:  You’re on your own, but most of us will be at Shannon’s Grill!  There are several nice restaurants in Central Park, where the hotel is located.

 

If I am unable to attend, can I have a friend pick up my favors?

NO, you must be present for all favors and door prizes.
