Aft Stateroom

These pictures don't do justice to this cabin ... The picture on the left shows the starboard and aft walls, viewed from the entryway. The starboard wall, port wall, and ceiling are finished with pine wood: beaded tongue and groove, with a varnish topcoat. The aft bulkhead is painted plywood, over-painted with a soothing mural.

This cabin is entered from the port side passage. The cabin stretches from starboard hull to port hull. The "L" shaped berth wraps around the starboard wall and aft bulkhead, to the port hull. The remainder of the port wall is occupied with a five-drawer bureau and other storage for clothing. The bureau and attached cabinetry is solid mahogany with varnish finish. This cabin has a 18" x 13" hatch, which opens onto the aft deck. The hatch is fitted with a (removable) screen.

Under the berth is a ton of room appropriate for storing miscellaneous equipment, clothing, supplies, etc. Our water heater is located under the forward part of the berth and the steering quadrant is located under the aft area to port.

Belowdeck, the Lazarette is accessed through the aft bulkhead in this cabin. If you look closely at the picture on the left you can see the outline of the access door.
