Woolly Thyme (Thymus pseudolanuginosis) forms a thick, soft, fragrant carpet, which feels wonderful on bare feet.  Given to me by a friend, I separated it into about a dozen plugs which were evenly spaced within the center circle.  In about four years time it spread and grew together and is now overflowing it's banks.  All the while, the Guardian Penguin has stood sentry by the birdbath.
