In making the Shade Garden it was necessary to have access to it from the Back Garden.  This meant putting a gate in the fence that separated the two.

However, I wanted something different than a normal garden gate.  This would be the perfect spot for a garden door.

After finding a wonderful old exterior door at a junk shop for $15, I began the project by first tearing down the old fence.

I then constructed a "see-thru" wall and a door frame...

...into which I installed the door and a window.

The result is just what I was hoping for...a perfectly functional garden gate, yet stylish and out-of-the-ordinary
.
