The fact that it took
many years to complete, worked to my advantage. There
was a basic, overall plan in my mind when I started, but I never
put anything down on paper, leaving most of the details to be
decided upon as I went along.
A lot of ideas can
occur to a person over the span of three and a half years and
such was the case in the evolution of this garden.

A set of stone steps was constructed to connect the garden with
the level of the road.
A few lengths of split rail fence neatly frame one corner of
the garden.
A Rock Garden was built.
And a central pavilion made from 1/2" rebar is the main
architectural feature and provides support for several vines.

The time of construction
also allowed me time to carefully consider what plants I wanted
and where I wanted them. Many of the plants in the
garden now I didn't even know existed when I began.
