Each year in mid July, when I have the garden looking it's best, I host my "Open Garden."  This day friends and family come to see what's new this year, and to see what was new last year now that it's a year older.  After eight consecutive years, the "Open Garden" is the social event on many people's calenders.
It certainly is on mine.

It's often a scramble for me to get everything ready, but so far, I've always pulled it off.  It's the day for the garden to shine, even if the sun doesn't.

In the spring of 1997, I decided to add a water feature to the garden. The excavation and construction was much easier than I'd anticipated.

I call it Loch Noggin in honor of the grinning remains resting at the bottom. The fishy occupant, who keeps the mosquito population under control, is a small mouth bass named Saul.
