IN GOD WE STILL TRUST
THE FOUNDATION: CONSTITUTION
“If it be asked, What is the most sacred duty and the greatest source
of our security in a Republic? The answer would be, An inviolable respect for the Constitution and Laws—the first growing
out of the last... A sacred respect for the constitutional law is the vital principle, the sustaining energy of a free government.”
—Alexander Hamilton
"If taxes are laid upon us without our having a legal representation where they are laid, we are reduced from the character
of free subjects to the state of tributary slaves." ~ Samuel
Adams
Harvey Edwards for State Representative Dist 14 Arkansas
.
This includes Arkansas and Prairie Counties.,
.
I am a Constitutionalist
.
This means that I will serve "WE THE PEOPLE"
.
I will Listen and then Work for the Average Man
.
Never a penny from anyone
Thank you for Your Vote
Since I strongly feel that the people are the power behind any politician I make the following statements
now.
I will not accept campaign contributions from anyone. I will owe the people who vote for me, not the
other way.
I feel that money from special interests, good or bad, is a criminal way to run our Country. I
intend to owe noone except those I represent.
I will use our U.S. Constitution, State Constitution, Bill of Rights and the Holy Bible as my guide and
will work to repeal all the unconstitutional amendments.
#1 on that list is the unconstitutional violation of our rights to express religion without the government
making any laws as it clearly reads in our Constitution.
Preamble to the Arkansas Constitution
We, the People of the State of Arkansas, grateful to Almighty God for the privilege of choosing our own
form of government; for our civil and religious liberty; and desiring to perpetuate its blessings, and secure the same to
our selves and posterity; do ordain and establish this Constitution.
. God is acknowledged as the Power behind every States Constitution.
.
When I approach the Pearly Gates, I am quite sure that I will NOT be judged by and asked " How much campaign
money did you raise" Rather I will be asked "what did you do freely and unselfishly for your fellow man".
You May ask me the question , What are your positions on the issues.
My answer will be clear. I am one of the people therefore we are ALL sharing the same experiences
in Life. We have runaway State spending yet they take a surplus of our taxes, money we should keep in our pockets. "when
you take something that you don't earn, that is theft" Special interests are running the State. I will go against that.
I will try to instill a pride in being a voter again. The people as individuals is where the power comes from. NOT a group
or entity.
Jobs and economic development should go hand in hand to remove the stagnation that we have here in
the Grand Prairie and Delta. I know that just a few large companies exist now which keeps salaries LOW and opportunity to
better yourself slim. My years in the Military and with Government Contracting tells me that there is enough Government
contracts to make this regions economy Boom.
Education, I am an educator, Military style, When folks have to spend their small check to
feed their kids and then buy expensive fuel, (that we could make here) they don't see education as the priority it should
have. Only that their Children need one in hopes that they can leave the Delta for better opportunities.. Better jobs
will invigorate higher education, Public schools are big business in Arkansas and their Lobbyists and Superintendents thank
you for your dollars, Frankly, I want to see the public education system as servants to the people and not dictating the rules.
A good Legislative body will keep it in check. Parents participation should be number one.
We are living in a time when spending of the peoples money has become so easy for Politicians to
do that they just blatantly take more and give less. Our constitution frowns on that, therefore you can bet, that will be
my take on all such spending issues.
I asked the house majority leader why Arkansas as well as 5 other states don't meet in house annualy
, so that they could do the peoples work and prevent surplus taxes going to the States coffers. His reply, "we don't
need bigger Government". Folks that is just not right. We need our Representatives to be there any time the people have need
for their services., ANYTIME. Thats what they have sworn an oath to do.
We The People believes the Right to Petition is, in fact, the "capstone" Right of the Bill of Rights and that its effect is
the direct exercise of Popular Sovereignty -- the First Grand Right of the Founding documents that declares government is
the servant of Men.
JOBS
My part of the Country is the Delta of Arkansas. It also Ranks as having the highest level of
poverty and unemployment. I Will see to it that every avenue is traveled when providing jobs for Arkansans. The
right incentive can and will bring in all the Jobs we need.
