[An excerpt from a letter to my son]
The Varsity beat Burbank 55-14 in a very boring game. The only excitement was the dirty play of Burbank and some nice
runs by Billy Brecht. He had 157 yards on 7 carries. The freshman won too -- 35-0. Next week: Burroughs.
Other football news. Valencia beat Burroughs 40 something to 20 something after being behind 14-0 at the half. Burroughs
apparently is fairly good but has only about 20 players and thus just wears out in the second half. Manual White had over
200 yards again.
Notre Dame High School has one of the best running backs in the country, Justin Fargas. He ran for 407 yards last week
on about 20 carries. He was the state 100 meter champ as a junior. He ran 10.2 which is better than many Olympic runners.
He's about 6'2" 190. Hopefully he'll go to USC but that now may not be in the cards because of the terrible season USC
is having.
