For those of you who have watched Hart games for a few years, you are probably familiar with Dean Herrington's penchant for
throwing in a trick play almost every game. This game had a winner.
On the first play of Hart's first possession, the team lined up in a spread formation. Quarterback David Neill took the
snap, turned left and threw a very long lateral to slot receiver Jared Bazar who had lined up on the far left side of the
field. The only problem was - at least for Thousand Oaks - it wasn't Bazar wearing number 27 (Bazar's number), it was Kyle
Boller. Boller threw a long bomb to Jerry Owens who took it in for the TD. Hart 7-0 about two minutes into the game.
Owens ended up with eight receptions for 198 yards and two touchdowns.
Neill was 20 of 36 for 278 yards and a TD to Owens. He also had one interception. Billy Brecht had 82 yards on 18 carries
and a touchdown.
