Quick overview: Hart was up 35-0 at half.  The starting skill players played the first series of the second half and Hart went up 42-0 in the third and then pulled most starters.  GV scored with 5 minutes left.

The summary is pretty easy.

GV 3 and out.  Hart scored on a 6-play, 58-yard drive drive. Stephens with a 1-yard TD run.  Hart 7-0 at 7:32 in the first.

GV 3 and out.  Hart scored on a 3-play, 42-yard drive.  9-yard pass to Borland for the TD.  Hart 14-0 at 5:05 in the first.

GV 3 and out.  Hart scored on a 2-play drive.  52-yard pass to MacArthur for the TD.  Hart 21-0 at 3:25 in the first.

GV got a first down on the next series and got out to the 32 and had to punt.  The punt was very high and short and hit a Hart player (live ball!). GV recovered but then went 3 and out.

Hart scored on a 6-play 80-yard drive.  45-yard pass to Kevin King for the TD.  Hart 28-0 at 6:34 in the second.

GV managed another first down but then a pass was tipped at the line of scrimage and defensive tackle Salvador Arceo intercepted.  Hart scored on a 7-play 33-yard drive (all runs).  Hairston scored on a 3-yard run.  Hart 35-0 at :16 left in the half.

GV started out the second half with an onside kick recovered by Hart.  Hart fumbled three plays later and GV took over at the GV 45.  GV fumbled on the next play so Hart had the ball at the GV 46 and scored on a 5-play drive with the TD by Stephens on a 4-yard run.  Hart 42-0 at 7:48 in the third.

GV got a nice return out to the 46, managed a first down but then turned it over on downs at the Hart 34.  Michael Eiden then came in at QB with Hairston at RB. Hart got down to the 23 but then fumbled.  GV took over at the 22 and scored on a 12-play 78-yard drive with the QB taking it in from 1 yard out.  42-7 at 5:09 in the fourth.

GV tried another onside kick and Hart turned the ball over on downs 4 plays later.  GV managed another first down but then lost the ball on downs to end the game.

Hart stats.

Rushing: Stephens 16 carries for 78 yards and 2 TDs; Hairston 3 for 35 yards and 1 TD; Reyes 4 carries for 34 yards, Eiden 4 carries for 23 yards; Phillips 1 carry for -1; Brusila 3 for 3 yards.

Passing: Reyes 9 for 12, 219 yards and 3 TDs.  Eiden 0 for 1.

Receiving:  4 receptions for 67 yards and a TD; MacArthur 2 catches for 80 yards and a TD; King 2 catches for 59 yards and a TD (his first as a varsity player); Stephens 1 for 10 yards.

GV

Passing: Sophomore Soliman was 4 for 12, 62 yards and 1 interception.

Rushing: 33 carries for 116 yards (the vast majority by Sophomore Jeff Coprich, the RB).

Next week.  Playoffs.  Oh -- Canyon won, making the Cowboys 2-8 for the year. But it also put them in a 3-way tie for third place at 2-3 in the Foothill League with Saugus and West Ranch.  Canyon won the coin flip. The Cowboys are in!
