Hart started out very impressively, going up 21-3 at half. Things got a little worrisome in the third quarter and then Hart
took care of business in the 4th quarter to win 36-15.
Here are the specifics:
Hart got the ball on the 20 following a touchback: pass to Howell for -1, pass to Souza for 16, pass to Souza (on the
opposite of the field this time) for 9, pass to Felt for 2, pass to Souza for 13 and then pass to Souza for 41 and the TD.
Hart 7-0 at 10:02.
West Ranch got a 36-yard return by Bacon and started at the 38: run by Bacon for 3, run by Bacon for 17, run by Ortega
(?) for 3, run by Bacon for 2, PENALTY -5 for delay, SACK for -3 and punt. The snap was off the mark, sending the punter
chasing the ball back toward his own endzone. He finally tracked it down and got off a punt which got a tremendous bounce.
Note that Hart passed on every down and WR ran on every down; sort of defines the respective offenses.
Hart at the 14: incomplete, pass to Diamond for 6, pass to Borland for 2 and punt.
West Ranch at the 39 (no return): run by Bacon for 36 off the right tackle, run by Bacon for 3, run by Bacon for 4, PENALTY
holding -10, run by Bacon on a draw for 14, run by Bacon was fumbled for -3 (team yards), pass to Ortega [END OF QUARTER]
run by Ortega for -3. The West Ranch field goal attempt was blocked but went forward to the 1 where a Hart player fell on
it.
Hart at the 1: run by Howell for 2, run by Howell for 9 then FUMBLE by Holbrook recovered by WR at the 9.
WR at the 9: run by Spell (Bacon apparently injured an ankle and never returned to the game), run by the QB for 2, run
by the QB for -1 and then 22-yard field goal to make it 7-3 Hart at 7:39 in the second.
West Ranch decided it was NOT going to get burned on returns by Howell so squibbed it and Hart simply covered it. Hart
at the 26: run by Howell for 24, pass to Borland for 36, incomplete, then run by Holbrook for 14 and the TD. Hart 14-3 at
6:34 (1:01 consumed on this 74-yard drive for those who are counting).
West Ranch started at the 17 after a 15-yard return: run by Spell for 7, run by Ortega for 6, run by Ortega for 4, incomplete,
urn by Spell for 5, PENALTY for illegal procedure -5 and punt. It was another bad snap, this time short, resulting in a very
short kick.
Hart at the WR 35: incomplete (drop), run by Howell for 26 but then a PENALTY backed up the ball 10 yards for a hold at
the end of the play, incomplete, run by Howell for 0, run by Holbrook for 18, pass to Borland for 1 and the TD. Hart 21-7
at 1:09.
WR at the 20: run by Spell for 1, run by Spell for 14, incomplete, run by Spell for 3, incomplete and punt. The time
ran out on the half.
Howell had 52 yards on 4 carries. Holbrook had 32 yards on 3 carries, a TD and a fumble. He was 11 of 15, 134 yards and
2 TDs.
West Ranch got 77 yards on 7 carries by Bacon before he left the game. Spell had 28 yards on 5 carries. The QB had 5
yards on 3 carries and there were 8 yards on 5 carries by other backs (I am not sure if it was one or two different backs).
The QB was 0-3 passing.
Second half:
WR got a 14-yard return to the 28: run by Spell for 2, incomplete, pass on a screen to Ortega for 18, run by the QB for
6, run by Spell for 14, run by McGee for 5, run by Spell for 4, run by McGee for 3, run by Spell for 8, run by Spell for 7,
run by Spell for 4, run by the QB for 1 and the TD. The PAT missed and it was 21-9 at 5:29 in the third. (Note this was
a 72-yard drive that took 6:31 seconds!)
After another squib kick and a 5-yard return by Souza, Hart started at the 33: pass to Diamond for 7 plus PENALTY for
incidental facemask +5, run by Holbrook for 0, incomplete (tipped), run by Howell for 10 then on fourth down, a run by Holbrook
that was stopped short of the first down. (Note this was only five plays, which because of the incomplete pass, consumed very
little time.)
West Ranch at the 45: run by #40 for 27, run by # 22 for 2, run by Spell for 6, run by Spell for 1, run by QB for 1, run
by Spell for 1, [END OF QUARTER], incomplete, incomplete, pass for 11 on fourth down, run by Spell for 4, run by Spell for
0, run by QB and the TD. The 2-point conversion failed. 21-15 at 10:11 in the fourth.
Hart had the ball less than two minutes up to this point in the second half. This touchdown seem to wake up the Indians
both on offense and defense.
The WR kickoff went one of the up backs who pitched it back to Howell. He returned it about 8 yards and then was whipped
around on a big time facemask PENALTY which added 15 yards at the end of the return. Hart at the 35: run by Howell for 1,
run by Howell on a pitch left for 21, run by Howell for 2, run by Holbrook for 3 then run by Howell on another pitch left
for 38 and the TD. Hart went for 2 and got it. Hart 29-15 at 7:59. (Note that the entire drive was on runs.)
West Ranch got a 20-yard return and started at the 22: run by #40 for 20, run by #40 for 1, PENALTY for too many players,
-5, incomplete, incomplete, and incomplete and a huge hit by Jacob Stevens as the ball got to the receiver.
Hart at the 38: run by Holbrook for 12, pass to Souza for 26 and the TD. Hart 36-15 at 5:28.
West Ranch: run by # 40 for 5, incomplete, pass for 2, incomplete.
Hart at the 27: run by Holbrook for 4, run by Stevens for 0, pass to #17 for 4 and then SACK for -6.
West Ranch at the 25: run by #44 for 8, incomplete, run for 3, PENALTY for holding -14 and run as the clock ran out.
Second half stats
West Ranch: 21 carries (by all rushers) for 123 yards and 2 TDs. Passing 3 for 11 for 31 yards.
West Ranch game totals: 41 carries for 231 yards and 2 TDs. Passing was 3 for 14 for 31 yards.
Hart second half: Holbrook was 2 for 3, 33 yards and 1 TD. He rushed for 13 yards on 6 carries and was sacked once (the
last play offensive play for Hart). Howell had 76 yards on 6 carries. Stevens had 1 carry for 0 yards.
Game totals for Hart: Howell had 128 yards on 10 carries and a TD. Holbrook had 45 yards on 9 carries and a TD. Holbrook
was 13 of 18 for 168 yards and 3 TDs. Souza had a big night as a receiver with 105 yards and 2 TDs on 5 catches.
Hart ran a lot of bread and butter stuff on offense but very effective. On defense, like last week, Hart gave up an unusually
large number of rushing yards right up the middle. Once again, I bet there will be some really hard work this week.
Next week: Valencia at COC
