The Claremont Wolfpack was seriously over-matched and, as predicted, had a very tough time handling just about anything Hart
attempted. Most of the starters were on the bench after 15 minutes with the score 41-0. Hart was up 50-0 at half time (7
TDs, 1 missed PAT and 1 safety) and the final was 50-10.
I'll the detail of the Claremont offense as there wasn't much.
Hart had no return and started at the 20. Holbrook's first pass was incomplete but that was one of the very few things
that didn't sparkle for Hart. He completed a 9-yard pass to Felt on the next play, ran for 22 yards on third down and then
handed off to Delano Howell who took it 49 yards to the house. Hart 7-0 at 11:09 of the first quarter(Johnny MacArthur kicked
the PAT).
After a Claremont punt, Hart started at the 10: run by Howell for 11, pass to Howell for 34, pass to Borland for 7. Then
followed a series of very minor hiccups. By that I mean, the only scoring drive by the starters that took more than four
plays: run by Holbrook for 2 (flushed), run by Holbrook for 4, shovel pass to Howell for 1, run by Holbrook for 5, run by
Howell on a pitch for 22, SACK for -10, PENALTY holding for -7 and then pass to Diamond for 21 and the TD. Hart 14-0 at 4:09.
Following a Claremont fumble, Hart started at the 31: incomplete, SACK for -5, pass to Howell for 59 (very short pass,
very long run) and then run by Holbrook for 15 and the TD. Hart 21-0 at 2:29.
Following a 3 and out, Hart started at the Claremont 48 (Howell returned the punt about 50 yards for a TD but it was called
back on an illegal block at around the 33): incomplete, incomplete, run by Howell for 36 and run by Howell for 12 and the
TD. Hart 28-0 at :17 in the first quarter.
After another 3 and out, Hart started at the 19: run by Howell for 7 and then run by Diamond (on a slot counter) for 74
and the TD. Hart 34-0 at 10:57 (PAT missed).
After another 3 and out, Hart started at the 7: 93-yard run by Howell for the TD. Hart 41-0 at 9:16.
Claremont fumbled the ensuing kickoff and Hart started at the Claremont 21. At this point most of the offensive starters
came out and Darren Sholes took over at quarterback and Dakota Luster at running back. Hart got down to the 1 but was unable
to punch it in and turned the ball over on downs. On the first play, the Claremont QB was sacked in the end zone for a safety,
I think by Mat Kaminski. Hart 43-0 at 4:05.
After a Claremont free kick on which Diamond had a 46-yard return, Hart started at the Claremont 29. Luster took it in
for a TD from the 16 four plays later. Hart 50-0 with :52 left in the first half.
First half stats:
Delano Howell had 230 yards and 3 touchdowns rushing on only 7 carries (almost 33 yards a carry!). He also had 93 yards
on 3 receptions (31 yards a catch). Diamond had 74 yards and a touchdown on 1 carry and 21 yards and 1 touchdown on 1 reception
(2 touches, 2 TDs). Holbrook had 33 net yards and a touchdown (two sacks for 15 yards in losses) on 7 carries. Dakota Luster
had 29 yards on 5 carries and Darren Sholes had 20 yards on 6 carries. Holbrook was 6 or 10 for 131 yards and 1 TD.
Totals: 386 yards rushing and 131 yards passing in the first half for a total of 517 yards from scrimmage.
Claremont: The QB was 3 of 9 for 28 yards. The first pass was for 22, the second for 5 and the third for 1 (see the pattern).
They rushed 8 times for 74 yards plus a fumble and a safety. 38 of those yards came on a flush-run by the QB and 22 on the
last run before half. Fun fact: the median run was 0.
In the second half, Hart did not score and the subs, basically running every play between the tackles ran up the following
yards: Darren Sholes had 42 yards on 9 carries. Sholes was 0-2 passing. Jacob Stevens had 15 yards on 3 carries and Tyler
Cox had 4 yards on 4 carries. There also was a -13 for the team on a bad snap.
Claremont second half offense: a 15-play drive from the 20 down to the Hart 9 and then a 26-yard field goal followed by
a 10-play, 60-yard drive for a TD. The last two series were 3 and out and 4 downs, 6 yards and ball to Hart.
