1975 (6-3)

The 1975 team was a considerable improvement over the two previous seasons but with three league losses, Hart did not make the playoffs for the fourth consecutive season.

Best name ever for a Hart player: Hoss Stamps. It just sounds like someone you really don't want to tangle with.

All-CIF: Linebacker Mark Nocciolo

Hart and Saugus played for the first time with Hart winning handily 27-14. Other than that, it was just another year in the Foothill League with no playoffs.

Linebacker Brain Foraker was selected to the all-CIF team.

The three local teams - Hart, Canyon and Saugus, along with the Hart District - complained mightily to the CIF about the intended move from the Foothill League to a new "Desert League" which would require a lot of additional travel to the Antelope Valley and up to Ridgecrest.

Hart, Canyon and Saugus moved to the newly formed Golden League. The Indians returned to the playoffs after a five-year absence, losing to Rio Mesa in the first round.

Fun fact: The players came out of the locker room at the Burbank game and found a hearse parked along the sideline which must have been a little disconcerting. It was there for the filming of an episode of the television series "Quincy."

Dan Hetzel was named an all-CIF linebacker.

1978 (3-5-1)

1978 was another undistinguished year for the Indians. Hart's record was a very mediocre 3-5-1 with the most frustrating aspect of the season being that virtually every game was close. It marked the first time (of two) that Hart lost to both Saugus and Canyon in the same season.

Think litigation is new to high school football? The parents of a player sued to the CIF after he transferred from Saugus to Hart in an attempt to get immediate eligibility. It didn't work.

Dave Holden was selected as an all-CIF tackle.

1979 (7-4)

Hart's 5-1 Foothill League in 1979 got the Indians to the playoffs where they were eliminated by San Marino.

Joey Charles, who sat out the 1978 season after transferring from Saugus, was the star on offense in most games. Against Saugus, he had 227 rushing yards on 26 carries. For the season, he rushed for over 1100 yards and 17 touchdowns.

The passing game was fairly potent too. Fitzpatrick had 11 receptions and 3 TDs against Palmdale.
