So far as I can ascertain, only five Hart players have played in the NFL. There is a very odd relationship between the careers
of the first four players - all four went to Cal! Matt Moore, Oregon State, broke that streak in 2007, signing with the Carolina
Panthers.
Joe Kapp
Joe Kapp played end (both ways) on the 1953 team and quarterback and defensive back on the 1954 team. He also returned kicks.
The team had losing records both years but the "lanky 6'3"" [newspaper description] quarterback obviously raised
some eyebrows with his versatility, scoring almost every possible way as a senior. He also was a fine basketball player.
He went to Cal where he played both basketball and football. He led Cal to the 1959 Rose Bowl as the Bears' quarterback
(the last time Cal was in the Rose Bowl!) and also played on Cal's 1957-58 team that made it to the Regional championship.
From Cal he went to the Canadian Football League. In 1964, he led the British Columbia Lions to a Grey Cup win and is
in the CFL Hall of Fame.
He moved to the NFL in 1967 and led the Minnesota Vikings to their first-ever divisional title and in the 1970 Super Bowl
was the Vikings QB in the game against the Kansas City Chiefs. He also played one year for the Patriots. He still holds
the NFL record for TD passes in a game (7 versus the Colts in September 1969). He was a very good runner for a quarterback
but not exactly the most accurate passer throwing for only 40 TDS but 64 interceptions, completed less than 50% of his passes.
He was the Cal head coach from 1982-86 and the PAC-10 Coach of the Year honors in 1982. He was the architect of "the
play" -- the five lateral kickoff return that beat Stanford (you know the one - where the Stanford band gets trampelled).

Darryl Ingram
Darryl Ingram played for Hart in 1983 as a tight end on the championship team. He did not catch a tremendous number of passes
but had very big yards per catch - over 20 yards - an astonishing number for a tight end.
He went to Cal and was drafted by the Vikings in the fourth round. He had five receptions in his rookie year. He then
played for Cleveland in 1991 (2 games) and Green Bay in 1992 (16 games) and 1993 (2 games) but with no receptions in any of
those seasons.

John McLaughlin
John McLaughlin was an all-Foothill League cornerback at Hart in 1992 (and at 6'3", surely the tallest). In 1993 he
caught 23 passes as a wide receiver for 429 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also returned a kickoff for a TD. He was all-Foothill
League at linebacker. He was the Foothill League Champion in the high jump and 100 meters, pretty amazing for a kid who by
that time was 6'4" and about 220.
He went to Notre Dame as a college freshman and played a number of games at defensive end. He then transferred to Cal
where he started at defensive end for three years.
He was drafted in the fifth round by Tampa Bay in 1999 where he played for two seasons as a special teams player.

Kyle Boller
Kyle Boller was Hart's starting strong safety, long snapper and backup quarterback as a junior. His performance as a senior
quarterback at Hart is legendary and recounted elsewhere on this site.
Kyle was hotly pursued by just about every major college football program in the nation except UCLA and USC! He went
to Cal where he started as a freshman. Without a whole lot of help, he had a mediocre first three years. As a senior, he
really blossomed under the tutelage of new coach Jeff Tedford.
Kyle was drafted in the first round in 2003(19th pick overall) by the Baltimore Ravens where he started for three seasons.

Matt Moore
Matt Moore was the quarterback on the 13-0 Hart team in the 2001 season, passing for 3350 yards and 33 TDs. He also ran for
a few hundred yards and occasionally played free safety. As a junior, Moore was the backup quarterback and the starting free
safety, intercepting 10 passes for the season, the Hart record. He also was a two-year starter on the baseball team electing
to pass up his senior year to concentrate on football.
From Hart, he went to UCLA. As a freshman, he played in five games with one start and completed 33 of 62 passes for 412
yards, two touchdowns with no interceptions, becoming the first true freshman quarterback in UCLA history to lead the Bruins
to a victory in first start. As sophomore he was injured in the first game, came back later in the season, completing 52
of 103 for 555 yards and two touchdowns with six interceptions.
He left UCLA, spent a semester at COC and then headed to Oregon State where he started all 24 games he played. He finished
his OSU career with 5,733 passing yards, which ranks fourth all-time in school history, completing 440 of 733 for 29 touchdowns
with 26 interceptions. He was MVP of the Sun Bowl after throwing for 356 yards and four touchdowns and rushing for one touchdown.
He also was selected as a third baseman in the 22nd round of the Major League Baseball Draft by the Los Angeles Angels
in 2004.
Following the 2007 NFL draft, he was signed by the Dallas Cowboys as an undrafted free agent. He was cut after the last
preseason game and immediatedly signed by Carolina.
