This page starts a new five-year block with 1980 which is particularly appropriate because the quarterback that year was Dean
Herrington, the architect of Hart's run n' shoot/spread offense. Somewhat in 1979, but particularly in 1980, passing became
a far more important weapon in Hart's offensive arsenal and has remained so to this day.
1980 was not a particularly remarkable season but Dean did throw for about 1200 yards that season including a 200 yard
game against Hoover.

In 1981, Dean Herrington was Hart's first all-CIF quarterback. His primary target was Dale Frack who ended the season with
75 receptions, a Hart record at the time (it lasted only three years). Hart played in the Golden League for the last time
before moving to the Foothill League (for a second time) in 1982. The playoff loss to Burroughs-Burbank is the last time
Hart lost to that team. Hart has now defeated Burroughs in 24 straight games, an on-going streak.
