The Short History: Ti discovered yoga in 1990 while living on the Olympic peninsula in northwestern Washington state. He
was inspired to begin a daily practice which he has maintained ever since. His first teacher later told him that he should
take yoga teacher training at the Kripalu Center in western Massachussetts which he did in November 1992. He began teaching
shortly after that in Ann Arbor, MI. When he moved to North Carolina in 1995, he continued to teach and has been teaching
ever since. In 1997 he was blessed to meet Amma who he realized as his Mother and Guru, and he continues to spend time with
Her every year to learn and study and reinspire. In 2004, after students repeatedly had asked when he would teach a yoga
teacher training, he finally began to do that.
He has a loving and supportive wife and two small boys that he lives with in Carrboro. Parenting has been a major testing
ground of the fruits of his yoga practice and continues to challenge, inspire and call him deeper in the practice of Love
and Devotion.
Main yoga influences are Angela Farmer and Victor Von Kooten, Erich Schiffman, Kripalu Yoga, and of course, Amma Mata
Amritanandamayi Devi. He has also enjoyed regular study of Iyengar Yoga from Patricia Walden, Aadil Palkhivala, Gabriel Halpern
and others. He has respect also for Anusara Yoga and has enjoyed several workshops with John Friend and Suzie Hurley. Bhagavan
Das, David Stringer, Krishna Das and Jai Uttal have provided much inspiration for Ti's love of kirtan, singing of the Divine
Names.
