Classes at Carolina Fitness
503 W Main St., Carrboro, NC 27510
919-960-9910
Tuesdays: 10:30 a.m and 7:30 p.m.
Thursdays: 10:30 a.m. and 7:30 p.m.
Fridays: 4:15 p.m.
some Saturdays: 12:00 noon (the gym will know if I have a sub)
These are one-hour, all-levels classes. I generally lead a moderately vigorous class and encourage and expect that everyone
will find their own level. I try to balance strenghtening/stabilizing with stretching/mobilizing.
Though I teach primarily asana, I do teach the mental and spiritual side of yoga as well in what I hope is a non-dogmatic
and open way. I feel that having a strong and flexible body is of little use if the mind and spirit are weak and undernourished.
In the practice I am interested in hanging out in the poses and getting more and more awareness in them. Every class is different
and comes out of the moment. Friday classes I take requests for poses or areas of interest.
For these classes, I request, whenever possible, that participants give a $1 donation for each class they attend as a
token of appreciation for what they are receiving in class. I have an orange bowl that I put out to collect donations. Some
people put $1 in the bowl each class, some contribute weekly or monthly or yearly. Checks are OK. If you think you cannot
contribute for some reason, that's OK, too, but if you can, it allows me to keep teaching here and to continue offering what
I believe is the best yoga deal in the Triangle. You may feel free to talk with me about this if you have any questions or
concerns.
It is possible to drop in by paying $10 at the front desk though if you want to come with any regularity, it will certainly
be worth it to get a gym membership.
