April 15, 2008: I was thinking last night about how fortunate I was
that I had time to do something
I enjoyed even when I was mostly
feeling quite restricted. So it was "a time well spent" after
all,
despite the basic feeling of being "boxed in" then.
In the blank verse poem, there are nine lines of anguish, followed
by three lines of reflection and change of direction, followed by
nine more lines, this time, lines of freedom. However, the time of
freedom is minus the ONE consolation that appeared during the
time of anguish. That second set of nine lines is followed by three
more lines of reflection. There is the realization that there was
good mixed with the earlier not-so-good, and the first reflection
and change of direction from hopelessness to making the best
of the situation, was what
made the conclusion possible, that it
WAS a "time well spent" after
all.
