My name is Eve Adam.
At one time I was known as
Phyllis Weiler or Phyllis Eve Weiler.
I am known on the Internet as
"Harmonic Eve."
All my websites are non-commercial

Here's Harmonic Eve with Mr. Adam in an early year of the long marriage. (He died in July 2004.)
Garden of Eden:  When I was a mother of a son and daughter in their late teens, and their father had already married his second wife, I was secretary to a group of engineers.  One of them, whose last name was Adam, decided he liked my middle name Eve.  He was the first person to call me Eve instead of Phyllis.  Later, after we were married, we went to Catalina Island on his sailboat.  This was one of the short trips we took for our honeymoon.  I discovered on that trip that I became much too seasick to enjoy sailing, even despite the medicine designed to prevent seasickness.  I also was made even more aware that I would sunburn too easily to stay dressed right for sailing.

Seasickness took me over to the point of making me feel, once we were on the dry land of Catalina Island, as if I were still on the rolling boat.  No, I was not then actually ill, but some part of me was still feeling as if I had not yet reached dry land.  After that, my dearly beloved husband was kind enough not to insist that I accompany him on his sailboat every time he would enjoy using it.  This was before his own health deteriorated to the point of his becoming too ill to use the boat that was so important to him.

When he was in good health and was still enjoying sailing on his twenty-seven-foot sloop, he used to make phone calls from the marina where his boat was docked.  He would call our home, and when I would answer, he would ask, "Is this the GARDEN OF EDEN?"  (Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve, August 8, 2008)

Hear Music Now!
(Download to listen.)
Click on the first link below to hear a midi
of the four-part choir piece named
"Commandments of Love."
(Written for Soprano, Alto, Tenor and Bass.)

The MIDI file sounds the notes the human voices would sing and may be used as accompaniment.  The WMA file is a larger file, sounding better, but the WMA takes longer to download than the MIDI.

To download the MIDI, click "Commandments of Love (MIDI)" below.
Then scroll farther down if you want to read the lyrics as you play the music.

Commandments of Love (MIDI)

Commandments of Love
(Mark 12:29-31)
Music and additional Lyrics by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
We have tried to go our own way
And we have not found
peace.
So now in faith we ask thee
Lord,
We ask in faith,
Teach us to do thy will.
Tell us, Oh Lord, thy will.
"Hear, O Israel;
The Lord our God is one
Lord;
And thou shalt love the Lord
thy God
With all thy heart,
And with all thy soul,
And with all thy mind,
And with all thy strength.
This is the first
commandment.
And the second is like,
Namely this,
Thou shalt love
thy neighbour
as thyself.
There is none other
commandment
Greater than these."
We hear thee, Lord.
Teach us how to obey thy
word.
In faith we ask thee, Lord,
We ask, teach us to do thy
will.
Thy will be done.
A-men; a-men; a-men.
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve,

Commandments of Love (WMA)

To download the WMA, click
"Commandments of Love (WMA)" above.  Don't forget to close the MIDI first if it is still playing.

The WMA sounds like a big church organ
which would accompany singers.  It takes
longer to download than the midi.

Two forms of sheet music for this composition are available.  To reach a computer-generated version for piano, click on the "Piano Version" link in the column at the left.  For the original manuscript, click on the link directly below.

If you like MIDI music, and you want to know the words while you're listening to the music, I think you'll like this link below.  Their player is excellent, and it is available for free.  For an interesting opportunity to control the sound and items displayed, experiment with the player's buttons.
Harmonic Eve's favorite midi player, vanBasco

The vanBasco player works well with midi files even when there are no lyrics to be seen, as illustrated by the following midi files.  They can be played with any midi player, but I enjoy them best with vanBasco.

Notice how that player allows you to see a piano keyboard with notes being played, if you choose the "piano" button. The "control" button allows you to change tempo, key, or volume.  The "output" button shows what I enjoy calling the "dancing dots" as each note played by any instrument is indicated.

Click below on one of the MIDI links to download and hear classical instrumental music.  It is not necessary to have the vanBasco player to hear them, but of course you do need your computer's speakers turned on.

One Hundred Years Ago
In 1908 my grandmother Bebe gave birth to Marion, the third of her five children.  Years later she wrote to Marion about that day and about even earlier events in her own life.  Click below to read that letter which I received in Violet's papers, after the death of all three women --- my mother Violet, my aunt Marion, and my grandmother Bebe.  In this letter, Bebe tells about Columbus, Ohio, and also Oklahoma, even before it became a state, and about her arranged marriage as a teenage bride. (Harmonic Eve, May 16, 2008)

It happened 100 years ago in Ohio and earlier in Oklahoma, before it was a state. (Click here.)
The child Violet, mentioned in the letter linked above, grew up, but did not stay on this earth long enough to hold the child named after her in 2008.  (See Family History link in the column at the left.)

Below is a photo my family snapped of a peaceful Arkansas landscape.  I have chosen it for my desktop to calm me when events in my life get quite hectic.  Of course the photo of Baby Violet was on my desktop for quite a while first, just because she is the loveable newest addition to our family. (Harmonic Eve, August 6, 2008)

Here's another Arkansas nature photo that looks good as a desktop.

The photo above is another my family took of the same peaceful area in Arkansas.  In Windows Vista, to use a photo for your computer desktop, all you need to do is right click on the photo and select "Set as Background."  Be ready to choose some great photos tomorrow -- a major day in history for the United States of America. Clara Barton, founder and long-term president of the American Red Cross
Suggestion:  Scroll up from here, click on the "Red Cross" link at the bottom of the column at the upper left of this page.

Clara Barton was not known for her poetry, but she did have a strong urge to express herself by writing poems as well as by assisting people who needed compassion.  You can see one of her poems to which I can relate, and which I have turned into a script for students. (See link in left hand column above.)  Each of us lives a life too short to accomplish every task in which we believe.  It is now my turn for music and poetry, although when I was a teenager, there was someone older and wiser than I who reminded me that I was not expected to "save the world."  I am not at all sorry I married at eighteen and had my first child at age twenty.  Each of us has our own tasks and joys.  Look carefully into your own heart, listen to your own "small voice inside" telling you what your purpose is for NOW, what your tasks are for this time you spend on earth. (Harmonic Eve)

It is O.K. to include links to any of my sites in your website or blog.  Feel free to quote my writing without the necessity of contacting me. Enjoy my poems and my music.  Make copies as you wish, being sure to include my name as the author.  I believe you can understand the reasons that you must not claim to have written them or otherwise claim ownership of them, and that I do not want you to change the wording or charge money for the copies.  May you go through life with LOVE always in your heart.  Eve Adam, also known as Harmonic Eve
