Many mortals of our time
Are hungering now for love.
Their hunger is real, but they feed it wrong,
Then wonder why they starve.
They think the kiss is love itself;
The kiss is but a token.
They grab the token and lose the love.
Why does the love elude them?
Because they think of TAKING love,
And do not think of GIVING.
The joy of Love lies in the Loving.
At last I've learned this lesson!
When I was a child I sought to RECEIVE,
But now I seek to GIVE,
And never has my heart been happier
Than now when I ask for nothing.
