We two who walk with words

Let go all words and know the comfort

Tiffany Vase

With practical daisies and romantic roses

A Tiffany vase is filled.

It signifies love that came to us both;

That came to us just as God willed.

You chose not me and I chose not you,

But God saw that we were a pair.

"That couple back there in the last row," I heard,

Soon after I sat in a chair.

I had chosen the chair that was right next to yours,

Though I hardly knew who you were.

When I came in late, the speaker revealed

What God had revealed to her.

I laughed to myself at how wrong she was then,

But the joke was really on me,

For ten years later, her fiction was fact;

Now yours is the love that I see.

Prayer for Guidance

Dear God in heaven and in my heart,

I lay my cares on you.

I have some problems I can not solve;

I don't know what to do.

I chose some goals and reached them too,

And thus brought even more;

More problems I myself can't solve;

Now inside me there's war.

You are the God of PEACE and LOVE;

Please help me feel those now.

Help me untangle the mess I made

When I thought I could choose just how

To reach the goals I chose for myself.

Please show me what to do

As now for those problems I can not solve,

I lay my cares on you.

Have you felt my pain?

Have you known those times

When tears came down like rain?

In a lonely room,

Though people were close by,

Have you known the sorrow

Much deeper than your sigh?

Misunderstood, alone,

You thought your pain would last.

Reach out and find that soon

Your pain is of the past.

I know; I've lived; I've loved.

I've lost and loved again.

Reach out beyond yourself;

Reach out beyond the pain.

Birthday Boy

The birthday boy has bounced along

To a ripe old age by now.

Each obstacle that was in his path

Has been overcome somehow.

Here's to the man who is loved by all,

Both young and old, both near and far;

May the cheerfulness that we see in him

Be to us as a guiding star.

Happy Birthday, Susan

Susan was a mother

Before she was eight years old.

Her Chatty Cathy doll was the

One she loved to hold.

Then later there came Robert,

Joanna, Sarah too.

But unlike Chatty Cathy,

These three were ones who grew.

Then Sarah brought forth Violet,

As cute as cute could be,

While Joanna hoped a boy

Would soon be here to see.

Now Susan is the expert

On how to love a child

Because she was a mother

Instead of running wild.

Happy birthday, Susan,

And may there be many more,

More birthdays and more babies

That we can all adore.
