Daydreaming
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

Dreaming awake,
His love I take.
I am bare
And he is there.
In the morning
Our lives are joining.
Who will witness
Or judge the fitness?
God alone will send the light
And tell us if our love is right.

Beyond All Words
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

In the dark,
In the silence,
We two who walk with words
Let go all words and know the comfort
Of the beauty in our sharing
Beyond all words,
In the silence.

Love is Still a Mystery

by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

The perfect knight speaks in the night.
His shining SOUL is now his armor.
But still, like maid of long ago,
He holds his love in mystery.
He wonders what is what,
And who is wooing?
Who is pursued by whom?

Was it love or was it lust?
And which is wrong or right?

Imperfect knight speaks in the night.
A troubadour sings to a maiden.
She hides behind a wall.
A wounded Colonel woos his nurse
Until they part in sorrow.
An unborn child dies in the womb
But life is born again.

Again the knight's bright shining SOUL ..
Or is the maiden now the knight?

Again we see the play unfold
And wonder, do we know the plot?
For as each playing begins anew,
We see the ending .. not.
Now each one plays the other's part.
A tender voice speaks in the night.
A troubadour brings forth his song ..

And love is still a mystery
While the play continues on.

Remembering
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

I bask in the warmth of your passionate self,
Yet YOU can not be here.
I feel each tender caress that I knew
In a very different year.
I remember the words you once said to me,
And then I release all fear.

So real and so near you are to me,
That time can not erase
The you I knew when once we spoke.
Still, I imagine your embrace.
How could I ever find anyone else
To fill my heart in your place?

Remembering One Gone

by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

I BASK in the WARMTH of your PRESENCE,
Yet YOU are not HERE.
I feel each tender caress I knew
In that other year.
I remember the words you once said to me
When I released all fear.
So real and so near you are to me,
That time can not erase
The you I knew once when we spoke.
Still, I imagine your face.
How could I ever find anyone else
To fill my heart in your place?

Choice, Two Four Time
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

My thoughts fill with words
I'm afraid to speak,
So in my confusion,
My lips touch your cheek.
You smile at me
And I feel your youth.
You seem so mature,
But is it the truth?
And if I would give
Myself to you,
Thus yielding my body
As others do,
Would you again
Be here with me?
Each time I looked,
What would I then see?

I'm living a life
Now safe and secure,
Afraid to dare,
Though fully mature.
One moment of choosing
To take a chance
Could alter my life
Forever -- one glance
From YOUR smiling eyes
Could tip the balance --
The love of a lifetime,
Or only a dalliance.
Would you again
Be here with me?
Each time I looked,
What would I then see?

It's Over
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
You sensed my innocence --
    you played the game
You'd played before with others.
I heard your words, I took them in,
Not knowing you were a player.
I told you "No" when first we spoke.
You won me with your words.

Were we friends or were we lovers?
I never knew just which.
My love was deep with many facets.
I'd be whatever you needed.
I made allowances for your faults
And hoped you'd see past mine.

I gave you honesty and devotion.
You gave me joy with grief.
I never knew just where you were
With me as friend or lover.
With no commitment as my lover,
You shunned me as your friend.

Obscure were your words --
     obscure was your meaning.
Each time we worked it out.
You hid behind a wall so high
I never reached your heart,
Or if I did, you hid it well
And hated me for caring.

There's a lesson here that I already knew,
And I trusted you knew it as well.
Passion and friendship should never be mixed
Without commitment established.
I gave my commitment, then allowed my passion,
And assumed you were doing the same.

You said "goodbye" in a roundabout way
That left me unsure of your choice.
I tried again to rekindle the friendship.
You slammed the door in my face.
So many times since first we spoke,
You tried to tell me, "It's nothing."

Now "nothing" it was, and forever will be,
And never will you think of me.
If you play with fire you might get burned,
But not this time -- not by me.
I let you go -- you're neither lover nor friend.
It was over when barely begun.

It's Over -- Again
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

You sensed my innocence --
    you played the game
You'd played before with others.
Were we friends or were we lovers?
I never knew just which.

You gave me joy with grief.

     obscure was your meaning.
Each time we worked it out.

There's a lesson here that I already knew,
And I trusted you knew it as well.
You said "goodbye" in a roundabout way
That left me unsure of your choice.

Now "nothing" it was, and forever will be,
And never will you think of me.
True, there was nothing, and more could not be,
But there's many a thought from me.

Fugitive
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

I lost my heart
In a neighboring county,
But for this fugitive
There is no bounty.
I should have said,
"Lost my head" instead.
I found my heart
Right here with me,
For it was on
My sleeve, you see.

Sleep Well, Dear One

by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

Sleep well, Dear One, and be content.
All you desire is yours already.
Always, it was meant for you.

Sleep well, Dear One, and be content.
Fear not; the former shadows, gone --
Have left you free to choose.

Wake up, Dear One, and see the glory!
Wake up and see the miracle
Of life and love and unity.

Valentine Blessing
To a Soul I Have Known
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
I bless you now this Valentine's Day.
I bless you now as you go on your way.
It matters not who holds you now,
Or who, in turn, fills MY life somehow.
We met, we loved, we learned and parted,
And LONELINESS was, for a while, outsmarted.

It was not in vain we sought the love.
There was a plan, conceived above,
That brought our souls together then
And made us seek, in this world of men,
Completion, perfection, in the image of another.
Go your way with God, my brother.

I'll never wish we had not met,
'Tho time and life have said, "not yet"
To all the dreams I held for you
And all the dreams that didn't come true.
I bless you now, Beloved Soul.
To learn from life -- that was the goal.

To part again, when we can not stay,
Was in the plan; it's all O. K.
We did it all, as was meant to be --
With GOD and YOU and ME -- we three.
I bless you now this Valentine's Day,
'Tho the love we sought did not seem to stay.

The Way Love Flows
(His Version)
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
There once was a woman.
I loved her.
We built a life together.
Most of it was good,
Yet it seemed like a prison
And she was the warden.

There once was a woman.
She was perfection.
She showed me the way
To the ONE I had forgotten,
God, Source of all LOVE --
Written in capital letters.

There once was a woman,
Old as my mother.
She loved me and I responded.
She needed a partner;
I needed one too.
We each found another.

There once was a woman
Who needed a man
To make her off-limits
To the industry bosses.
Strange partners we were,
Better friends than lovers.

Now again I wonder
Why is there one woman
My heart has accepted
Above all others?
How long can I live
With no personal touch?

Is it better to love
The way love flows
When the channel is blocked
Or to look for another?
Who will look in MY direction?
How much can I share?

Short Story, Old as Time

by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

I asked my love a question.
He would not answer me.
Another day I asked again.
He chose to set me free.
Do you want me bare?
No.
Did you EVER care?
No.
What WOULD you want to share?
Go.

No More Questions
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

The phone could ring while I was sleeping,
Yet I left the ringer on.
All through the day, I tried your number,
But your line was always busy.
You called at last and I was cordial.
I asked you what was wrong.
You said the phone was not behaving.
You blamed it on equipment.
You said you'd be out, and arrive home late.
I asked you to call, once home.
So attentive you were before today
That I wondered at the change.
Too many questions, too many demands,
You said were coming from me.
What have I asked but to know you are safe?
What do I want but your friendship?
Yes, questions to make polite conversation,
Demands that you let me be me.
You want no more questions; I have no demands.
You want to be free, then be free!

Love Came
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

I wished upon a star one time
When I was eight years old.
A daddy for my children and a
Man that I could hold --
That's how I saw my future life.
I planned it all, you see.
Early to wed was in my plan.
That's how I thought it would be.

Ah yes, that dream came true in time,
But more was still to come.
The man who fathered my children became
Loving spouse to another one.
A different man then took his place
In a life I continued to live,
And he was one who deserved the love
That was all my heart could give.

When he slipped away to the heaven above,
Someone else took up room in my heart.
It would not work -- it was plain to see
I was dazzled by all of his art.
Now time has made me wiser still
To look beyond the shell
To a man within an aging body.
He loves me and knows me well.

I wished upon a star one time
When I was eight years old.
I wished for a man whom I could love,
A man I'd be pleased to hold.
I wished upon a star for LOVE
And MORE than I wished came true.
So dream the dreams you choose to dream
And love can come to YOU.

Despite the Rain

by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

Did you ever love so much it hurts?
Or hide the pain with rich desserts
Then sleep alone and wonder why?
Or lie in bed alone and cry?
You chose the one who stays away;
Now choose to live another day.
Just try to sort all dreams from fact.
He loves you still, but can not act.
Believe the love; let go the pain
And live your life despite the rain.

Tiffany Vase
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

With practical daisies and romantic roses
A Tiffany vase is filled.
It signifies love that came to us both;
That came to us just as God willed.
You chose not me and I chose not you,
But God saw that we were a pair.
"That couple back there in the last row," I heard,
Soon after I sat in a chair.
I had chosen the chair that was
       right next to yours,
Though I hardly knew who you were.
When I came in late, the speaker revealed
What God had revealed to her.
I laughed to myself at how wrong she was then,
But the joke was really on me,
For ten years later, her fiction was fact;
Now yours is the love that I see.
With practical daisies and romantic roses
A Tiffany vase is filled.
It signifies love that came to us both;
That came to us just as God willed.

Special-Day Greeting
to a Far-Away Friend
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

I bless you now this Special Day.
I bless you now as you go on your way.
It was not in vain we sought the love.
There was a plan, conceived above.
I'll never wish we had not met,
'Tho time and life have said, "not yet."
To part again, when we can not stay,
Was in the plan; it's all O. K.
The time will come -- we'll meet again;
We'll laugh and ask, "Remember when....?"
The good times came and good times went,
But YOU, my friend, were heaven sent.

Bottom Line:  Forgiveness
(Six Steps to Forgiveness from Four
Generations of Life Experience)
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
To Forgive Yourself:

ONE: Recognize that you did the best
you knew how to do in the circumstances
in which your found yourself.

TWO:  Recognize that you are the one
holding on to the guilt;
God has already forgiven you.

THREE:  Release the past and
live in the present.

To Forgive Others:

ONE: Recognize that they did the best
they knew how to do in their state of mind
at the time.

TWO: Recognize that when you refuse
to forgive, you are hurting yourself more
than you are hurting the ones who
wronged you.

THREE: Release the others to the
natural consequences of their acts
and at the same time free yourself
to create a better present.
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve (8/
15/2001)

Forgiveness is needed in ANY romantic love situation,
whether it is working or not.  That's why this is
included with the romantic love poems.

Lover? Thief!

by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve

My money's gone!
My money's gone!
From when I met him when?
From when I met him then!
From when I met him where?
From when I met him there!
Oh no!
Tell him, "Go!"
