Spring Cleaning
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
Some people with zeal
Can't see what is real.
A woman I know
Puts on a big show
Of paintings and sculptures,
Not seeing the vultures
Disorder and Dust ---
But face it, she must!
Her vision is poor,
'Tho resolve is now sure.
"I'M NOT A BUG!"
Says the dustball, so smug.
Yet it's squashed anyway,
Not to live another day.
Some people with zeal
Can't see what is real.

Who Am I?
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
Who am I?
I'm so much more than the rings I wear.
Look beyond the fingers
you see.
I'm so much more than the hair on my head
Or how long that hair may be.
Who am I?
Time changes all in the outward signs,
But inside is where we
can grow.
Look beyond colors I wear today.
Look into my heart and know.

Holiday Heat and Global Warming by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
|
It's a holiday Monday, So much like a Sunday, But
the temperature soars And I long for a FUN day --- I'd be snug in my home, Not bothering to drive, With weather
much cooler In which I could thrive.
But today there are people Around me in stores. There are many like
me Who prefer the indoors. As electrical power Is keeping us cool, I see families with children Who are home
from their school.
Today I am parking Myself in a chair Inside a large building, Breathing warm, normal air. I
have found me a shelter Away from the heat And I'm reading my book, Keeping all things neat.
Unlike my own
dwelling, With windows all around That let in the light, And the heat, and the sound, Where papers surround me
(I'm too tired to sort) And laundry needs doing, And time comes up short ---
This haven from heat Is inside
a mall, My one last refuge This beginning of FALL. Yet I'm hearing an echo Of a warning once heard, Of a future
we'll avoid If we heed every word.
Recycle the cans, The paper, the glass, As around this land You continue
to pass. Use energy wisely, Conserve when you can, And remember the children Who will inherit the land. by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve (9/3/2007 and 3/23/2008)

Love Came
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
I wished upon a star one time
When I was eight years old.
A daddy for my children and a
Man that I could hold --
That's how I saw my future life.
I planned it all, you see.
Early to wed was in my plan.
That's how I thought it would be.
Ah yes, that dream came true in time,
But more was still to come.
The man who fathered my children became
Loving spouse to another one.
A different man then took his place
In a life I continued to live,
And he was one who deserved the love
That was all my heart could give.
When he slipped away to the heaven above,
Someone else took up room in my heart.
It would not work -- it was plain to see
I was dazzled by all of his art.
Now time has made me wiser still
To look beyond the shell
To a man within an aging body.
He loves me and knows me well.
I wished upon a star one time
When I was eight years old.
I wished for a man whom I could love,
A man I'd be pleased to hold.
I wished upon a star for LOVE
And MORE than I wished came true.
So dream the dreams you choose to dream
And love can come to YOU.

No More Questions
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
The phone could ring while I was sleeping,
Yet I left the ringer on.
All through the day, I tried your number,
But your line was always busy.
You called at last and I was cordial.
I asked you what was wrong.
You said the phone was not behaving.
You blamed it on equipment.
You said you'd be out, and arrive home late.
I asked you to call, once home.
So attentive you were before today
That I wondered at the change.
Too many questions, too many demands,
You said were coming from me.
What have I asked but to know you are safe?
What do I want but your friendship?
Yes, questions to make polite conversation,
Demands that you let me be me.
You want no more questions; I have no demands.
You want to be free, then be free!

My Time
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
Boxed in. No place to go --- Only where someone
else Chooses for me. Why is my time Wasted so? I had plans. I had hopes. What's here for me now?
There is ONE hope, One plan to pursue; I'll fill my time with that.
Free at last! There's so much to do! No time for extras --- Not even one which gave me solace When I thought
my time was being wasted. The only comfort I was allowed No longer fits my busy life. The restriction I hated Has
proved a blessing.
Yes, I see now. It was meant to be thus. It was a time well spent. by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve (4/14/2008)
St. Patrick's Day Greeting to a Far-Away Friend
|
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic
Eve I bless you now this fine March Day. I bless you now as you go on your way. We've
written words of sisterly love, Fulfilling the plan conceived above. I've often wished that we had met, But time
and life have said, "Not yet." To "know" from afar, as we write each day, Was in the plan; it's all O. K. The time
will come --- we'll meet and then We'll laugh and ask, "Remember when --- ?" Some good times came, some good times went, Since
you, my friend, were heaven sent. by Eve Adam, a.k.a.

INTERIOR DECORATOR
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
Moving
into cramped quarters can even be fun. A paid professional? No; I am the one. I shop for the bargains and
search for the sales And even sometimes grab a hammer and nails. I disregard rules and do as I please, Check this
goes with that and that goes with these. There's secondhand stuff, still good, 'tho discarded; For me it's ideal
while I'm still getting started. by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic

Choice, Two Four Time
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
My thoughts fill with words I'm afraid
to speak, So in my confusion, My lips touch your cheek. You smile at me And I feel your youth. You
seem so mature, But is it the truth? And if I would give Myself to you, Thus yielding my body As
others do, Would you again Be here with me? Each time I looked, What would I then see? I'm living
a life Now safe and secure, Afraid to dare, Though fully mature. One moment of choosing To take a chance Could
alter my life Forever -- one glance From YOUR smiling eyes Could tip the balance -- The love of a lifetime, Or
only a dalliance. Would you again Be here with me? Each time I looked, What would I then see? by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve(6/30/2007

Justice Violet's Girls
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve My Mom was named Violet;
Her Mom was named Violet too. Miss Violet, Miss Violet, Justice Violet's two
Violets, Sweet Violets so beautifully grew. My Mom had a daughter who did what she oughter, Grew up,
found a man, had a son. That daughter was me, years ago, don't you see. But I could not stop with just one. So
I had a daughter who did what she oughter, Grew up, found a man, had a son. She then had a daughter
who did what she oughter, Grew up, found a man, grew a FLOWER.
It's Violet, sweet Violet, one more little girl, One more in the clan of the Violets. And YOU,
dear Justice, can you SEE how we grew? IT'S ALL BECAUSE OF YOU! by

Election Year Insomnia
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic
Eve
Obama's with Biden, and Palin, McCain.
My toothache is hurting; I'm in too much pain.
My rent has gone up and my funds have gone down.
The're people now hurting all over this town.
It's six in the morning; I've NOT SLEPT at all.
And this is the CRAZIEST WEATHER this fall.
I worry about this and I try to solve that.
Just give me some SLEEP; it's too early to chat.
If I CAN'T sleep in bed, can I sleep in a chair?
They say that good sleep will UNRAVEL each care.
I hope I can learn how to QUIET MY BRAIN!
Obama's with Biden, and Palin, McCain.

Vocabulary Fun
(Sesquipedalian)
by Eve Adam, a.k.a. Harmonic Eve
The other day my boyfriend found
A word he thought I'd know.
He was so sure that I was that;
I said it wasn't so.
We looked it up in Webster's book
To see just how to say it.
(Vo-cab-u-lary is a game;
Sometimes I like to play it.)
This magic word was new to me;
Perhaps it's new to you.
Sess-kwuh-puh-DAY-lee-ann ----
If you can say it, do!
I find it every bit as fun
As Mary Poppins' word.
This word is REAL; 'tho not made up,
It's one I'd never heard.
Sess-kwuh-puh-DAY-lee-ann
Is not too BAD, I see.
Look it up, be LIKE that too ---
That's how you WANT to be?
Ses-qui-pe-da-lian ---
Don't ever say it to a man --
Not if you want to seem quite glamorous
And really want him to be amorous.

I bless you now this Special Day; I bless

in the plan; it's all O. K. The time will come -- we'll meet again; We'll laugh and ask, "Remember when ....?" The
