MINIATURES
Iron Wind Metals - Formerly Ral Partha, they are a long time
manufacturer of miniatures and accessories. I'm a little
frightened by the website. I hope they don't go the way of
Grenadier.
The Games Workshop - I have a preference for their
paints and inks (Citadel Colours). They are
also heavily into miniature gaming (what else?).
Ed's Hobby Hovel - This is a pretty extensive site
on the subject including painting guides.
Hirst Arts - Astounding castle set molds - buy
the mold, use it again and again - Make your own
castle, scenes, or miniature dioramas!

| Dogs
and Cats
The
Sheltie Club of Baltimore - They are also the local breed
rescue.
The
Border Collie FAQ - They aren't for everyone, which is why
so many end up in shelters or rescues.
Siamese
Cat Rescue - These folks are determined to help every cat
they can.
About
Tortishell cats - The answer to that burning question: why
are calico cats female? Also, the dog treat recipe is a hit in
our house.
Petfinder
- A great way to search hundreds of shelters and rescues for a
companion animal who needs a home. Why? Here's my 10 second
sermon: With the exception of fish, NEVER buy an animal from a
pet store 'breeder'. Never. The animals are overpriced,
frequently sickly, poorly bred and socialized and usually live
in deplorable conditions. Sermon over.

Aquariums
NotCatfish
- Check out the FIndex for pictures and stats on many species
of interest to hobbyists. In spite of the name, you can
scrounge around for some catfish information, but the sister
site is going to be the place to go. There are also some
good articles on water chemistry and new setups.
Age
of Aquariums and Compuserve
Aquaria Forums are the more active aquarium message boards
where you can ask questions and get answers to what the books
are either confusing about or just plain don't cover.

New York City
The Metropolitan Museum Of Art - Still one of my favorite places
to be in the city
The Hayden Planetarium is OPEN! After several years of renovation,
it's now the Rose Center for Earth and Space, but the
planetarium is still the Hayden. Go see the new website
- looks very nice.
The American
Museum of Natural History finally sprang for a cool website.
The AMNH site for Mars
is neat too.
New York City Insider - Have you been to New York?
Going anytime soon? Do you live
there? Be surprised how many people live there
and haven't seen it. Check this -
lots of neat info.

Washington, D.C.
The Smithsonian Institution - America's attic. Forget the
monuments if you're in D.C. - See the red Castle!
If you want a glimpse of
some of the treasures in the Smithsonian, stop by
Second Nature and download/order the Smithsonian screensavers.
The National Zoo - I never particularly liked zoos in the past.
Something about seeing big cats pacing vapidly in
a too small enclosure... It is
nonetheless, the most direct way of educating
people about the other creatures that share our
planet.
FONZ -
Friends of The National Zoo spearhead the
education, conservation and support for this
branch of the Smithsonian.

Columbia,
MD
Howard County - Not quite a Washington, D.C.
suburb, and not quite a Baltimore, M.D. suburb.
Columbia, M.D. - Smack dab in the middle of Howard
County and where we call home.
The Columbia Association - Schedules, recreation facilities,
contact numbers.
SAIC -
Where I work.
