about hamsterdam

Well, what is there to say? I am not from Amsterdam but from a small village near Munich in Germany instead. While studying Chinese in Taiwan, I met my now husband. After six years of a very long distance relationship, we married and I moved to San Francisco, where I still am. We live in the foggiest part of the city and are therefore often dressed too warm when we venture outside our neighborhood which makes us feel somewhat dorky. But since we live in the most convenient area imaginable, we don't actually have to leave our foggy sanctuary unless we feel like it.

I originally wanted to be a curator, ideally at the Asian Art Museum in San Francisco, but then I had an epiphany while looking through the course catalog of City College. I saw a listing for a class in library science and started wondering why it had never occured to me that being a librarian would be the ideal job for me. It didn't take long for me to decide to apply to library school and this is what I am doing at the moment. I have to admit that graduate school is not quite so exciting the second time around but I am really looking forward to working as a librarian.

When I am not studying or working - which currently doesn't happen too often - I like to paint, as you can see from this website, and read. I also really enjoy travelling and learning foreign languages. I am currently working on Japanese which is turning out to me much harder than I had expected.
