SkullBall

Inspired by Ebonite's clear bowling ball with skull inside, I decide to make my own miniature version.

I took a egg sized skull, a baseball trophy holder, and some Castin Craft casting resin and made my own mini skull ball. Using the baseball holder as my form, I coated the inside of the shell with several coats of Turtle Wax. I mixed up enough resin to fill 1/4 of the sphere (2 oz.). Afterthe resin had gelled (30 minutes) I put the skull face down into thesphere and added another 2 oz.s of resin. 30 minutes later I used electrical tape to seal the two halves together. I filled the rest of the sphere with resin using a hole that I had predrilled in the top of the sphere. About 5hours later, I pried the two shell halves apart and pried the ball out.I wet sanded the ball with 220 grit wet/dry sandpaper until the surfacewas very smooth. Then I used 330, 440, 600, Novus plastic polish #3 andNovus polish #2.
