They survived the big “Old” fire of October, 2003.
It burned some pipes, the motor home, and every last pine tree.
It didn’t take the buildings because all is open, clear,
As goats do graze and browse, as did the sheep and deer.
Teachers fled the Christmas flood, ‘though it didn’t harm things much.
It took some water pipes, but the buildings did not touch.
So fires and floods don’t devastate as cougars sure have done.
Prop. 117 of ’90 put the cougars on the throne.
