Surely you are Forgiving, Clement, Liberal, Generous, Compassionate, Beneficent.

As salatu khairun min an naum.

"Prayer is better than sleep" (said twice).

(7) Glorification Prayer:
(Salatul Tasbeeh) page 91
A Hadith reported by Imam Tabarani and Ikrimatu form Ibn Abbas (ra), who said Abbas (ra) the uncle of the Prophet (pbuh) went to him at an unusual time.
[^page 118]

The followers informed the Prophet (pbuh) that his uncle was standing by the door. The Prophet (pbuh) permitted him to enter and asked him why he had come at that time. The uncle expressed his fear and concern for all his wrong deeds during his days in ignorance and wanted to know how to get Allah's forgiveness.
The Prophet (pbuh) then prescribed the salatul Tasbihi for him, as follows: -
Oh Uncle! After you have completed your ablution at the correct time for offering prayers (not at sunrise or sunset), make your intention for Salatul Tasbihi and takbir. Recite Fatiha and any Sura, and after it you will recite;
Subhana-llahi, wal hamdu li-llahi, wa la ilaha illa-llahu, wa Allahu Akbar, 15 times.
You will then bend to Ruku'u and recite on the Ruku'u;
Subhana-llahi, wal hamdu li-llahi, wa la ilaha illa-llahu, wa Allahu Akbar, 10 times.
You will then rise to standing. While standing you will recite the tasbihi 10 times.
You will then prostrate to Sujud and recite the tasbihi 10 times when your forehead is on the ground.
You will rise to sit, recite the tasbihi 10 times, return to Sujud, and recite the tasbihi again 10 times while in Sujud. You will then rise to sit again and recite tasbihi 10 times. That completes a full rakaat, and if the tasbihi recited are put together the total will be 75.
You will rise to the second rakaat and recite Fatihah, a Sura and 15 tasbihats, from there to ruku'u and perform as done in the first rakaat. Do the same in the third and fourth rakaat. The total tasbihi in the four rakaats will be 300.
The Prophet (pbuh) then said that whoever performs this prayer correctly will be forgiven his sins, even if his sins
[^page 119]

are more than the stars, the foam on the seas, or even as plentiful as the sand. Allah shall forgive him.
He (pbuh) then recommended that if the uncle can, he should observe the prayer daily, but if he can not, it can be observed on Fridays, if not then, then once every month, and if that is not possible then it should be observed yearly.

[^page 120]

(8) Other Forms...that Wipe Sins page 92

On C. 37 page 82 Additional information
You should be worshipping or remembering Allah with prayers that will wipe away your sins. We should also persist in worshipping and in the cleaning of our sins. The strongest of such worship being the Salat upon this pivot leader Muhammad (pbuh), Salatul Fatihi. Recitation of Salatul Fatihi will never leave a sin, big or small, it will wipe it away. The Prophet (pbuh) has mentioned that Angel Jibri'al came to him and told him, "Whoever says one prayer on you, Allah will make it ten for them. Whoever makes ten, Allah will make it one hundred. Whoever makes it one hundred, Allah will make it one thousand and whoever makes it one thousand, Allah will make their body forbidden to the Hellfire". And in another report, the Prophet (pbuh) said, "If anyone wants to be pleased with meeting Allah while Allah is also satisfied with them, they should offer plenty of prayers upon me. In fact, whoever offers 500 prayers on me a day will never be a poor person. All their sins will be demolished, all their mistakes will be left off, Allah will help them over their enemies and with the means of doing good things, and they will be among those who will be in the companionship of the Prophet in Paradise."

On verse 89 page 88
Al-Musaba'at is the kind of Dhikr which has been reported through the tongue of Shaykh Ahmad Tijani (ra). It is to be said twenty times daily, ten in the morning and ten in the evening. "Yaa man azharal jameela wa sataral qabeeha wa lam yu`aakhidh bil jareerati wa lam yahtikas sitra wa yaa
[^page 121]

`Azeemal `afwi wa yaa hasana tajaawuzi wa yaa waasi`al maghfirati wa yaa baasital yadaini bi rahmati wa yaa saamigha kulli najwaa wa yaa muntahaa kulli shakwaa wa yaa Kareema safhi wa yaa `Azeemal manni wa yaa muqeelal `atharaati wa yaa mubdi`an bi ti`ami qabla astihqaqihaa yaa Rabbee wa yaa Sayyidee wa yaa Maulaa wa yaa ghaayata raghbatee as`aluka an laa tushawwiha khilqatee bi balaa`i dunyaa wa laa bi`adhaabi naari."

[^page 122]

On verse 89 page 88
Umar the son of Khatab (ra) reported that the Prophet said: "When a Caller to prayers says; Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, each of you should say, Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar. When he says: Ash-hadu an La ilaha illa-llah, you should say, Ash-hadu an La ilaha illa-llah. When he says: Ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulu-llah, you should say, Ash-hadu anna Muhammadan Rasulu-llah. When he says: Hayya ala Salah, you will say, La Haula wa quwwata illa bi-llahi. He will say: Hayya alal Falah, you will say, La Haula wa quwwata illa bi-llahi. He will then say: Allahu Akbar Allahu Akbar, you should say the same. He will end the Adhan with La ilaha illa-llah, and you will also say: La ilaha illa-llah.
The Prophet (pbuh) then said: "Whoever follows the Mu'adhan (Caller), as shown above, in his heart will enter Paradise. [Reported by Muslim in his Sahih]

On verse 90 page 88
Shaykh Ahmad Tijani has mentioned other prayers that wipe away sins. The following, if recited 80 times on Thursday night before Juma`a or on Friday after the `Asr prayer, will wipe out the sins of 80 years:
Allahuma salli 'ala sayyidina Muhammadin nabiyyil 'ummee wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallim.

[^page 123]

The eighty at night will wipe out the sins of 400 years, while the 80 after `Asr will wipe the sins of 80 years. In Hadith, the Prophet (pbuh) has said, "Whoever says 80 prayers upon me on a day or night his sins will be forgiven, even if they are like the foam of the ocean. And whoever says on a day of Juma`a, on Friday after `Asr prayer,
'Allahuma salli 'ala sayyidina Muhammadin nabiyyil 'ummee wa 'ala aalihi wa sahbihi wa sallim',
Allah will forgive him the sins of 80 years." Other prayers that will raise up the position of the (Tijani) muride (as has been reported by Shaykh Ahmad Tijani) include the following to be read three times in both the morning and evening:
Allahumma maghfiratuka awsa'u min dhunoobi wa rahmatuka awjaa 'indee min 'amalee.

Likewise of importance is the Makafaratul Dhunoobi [to be read once]:
"Allahumma innee astaghfiruka, limaa tubthu ilayka minhu, thumma `udtu feehi. Wa astaghfiruka, lima wa `adtuka min nafsee, thumma akhlaftuka feehi. Wa astaghfiruka, lima aradtu bihi wajhaka, fa khaalatanee feehi maa laysa laka. Wa astaghfiruka, lalna`amil latee an`amti bihaa `alayya, fa taqawwaytu bihaa. `Alaa ma`aaseeka wa astaghfir-llaha ladhee la ilaha huwal Hayyul Qayyouma `aalimal ghaibi wa shahaadati huwa Rahmaanur Raheem, li kulli dhanbi adnabtuhu, wa li kulli ma`seetin artakabtuhaa, wa li kulli dhanbi ahaata bihi `ilmu-llahi."
[^page 124]

[^page 125]

On verse 91 page 88
At - Tasbih (Glorification )
Means glorifying Allah the Almighty, the text is: - Subhana-llah, wal Hamdu li-llah,wa la ilaha illa-llahu, Allahu Akbar. Wa la haula wa la quwata illa bi-llahi al `Aliyu al-`Azeem. Adada ma alima, wa mil'a ma alima, wa zinata ma alima.
Glorification of Allah morning and evening is recommended in the Holy Qur`an. If one observes it as a service to Allah morning and evening, it serves as protection, erases the sins committed, and attracts prosperity for here and the hereafter. To say this whole thing once is enough to forgive all of your sins and keep you safe from the punishment of the fire."
And in the Qur`an Allah mentions that we should meditate on each sign, so that men of understanding may receive admonishment.

On verse 92 page 88
Two raka'at can be said at night or during the day, (but it is best) in hiding, away from the eyes of the people. The Prophet (pbuh) has said, "Whoever prays two raka'at in private, where no one sees him except Allah and His angels, Allah will give him a letter or right of safety from Hellfire." Likewise `Ali ibn Abu Talib reported that he had heard the Prophet (pbuh) say, "Whoever makes two raka'at out of belief and expecting the reward of Allah, Allah will write for him one hundred good actions and leave out 100 bad actions and will raise him up one hundred degrees and forgive his sins, the previous and the latest." And it is reported that whoever makes prayers during the night, his face will look nice during the day.

[^page 126]

On verse 93 page 89
In a Hadith related by Ibn `Umar, the Prophet (pbuh) said, "If you lead a blind person for forty steps, Paradise becomes due for you."

On verse 94 page 89
It was reported in sunnani Abi Daud and Tirmizi and ibn Majah from Bara'i (ra), that the Prophet (pbuh) said: "No two Muslims will meet and shake hands with each other unless Allah forgives their sins before they loosen their hands.

Selections from Kashful Abas: (Removal of Complications)
Relating to verse 115 page 95

Know, O my brother, may Allah shower His mercy on you, that if you draw near to Allah a hand's breadth, Allah will draw near to you an arm's length. And if you draw near to Allah an arm's length, He draws near to you two arms length. And if you go to Allah walking, Allah will go
[^page 127]

to you running. And in this Hadith, Allah did not differentiate between those who had come before and those who would come after, or between the red people and black people. Indeed, the fact that a person's skin is black does not prevent him from being among those closest to Allah. It has been reported concerning the black Abyssinian people that the Prophet (pbuh) said, "If belief were to be found in the star of Surraya, these people would be able to attain it." And the Prophet (pbuh) once said of the black Persian, Salman Al Farsi, "As for Salman, he is one of my household (Ahl-Bayt)."
In a similar manner has the book entitled "Jawahir Al Hisan" explained the verse of the Qur`an mentioning the "others" where Allah says,
"As well as (to confer all these benefits upon) others of them who have not already joined them (62:3)."
For when the Prophet (pbuh) was asked the identity of the "others" mentioned in this verse, he (pbuh) took Salman by the hand and said, "if religion was in the star of Surraya, these people could attain it." Such has been reported by both Muslim and Bukhari.
O my brother, may Allah shower His mercy on you! Look how the Prophet (pbuh) has distinguished the people of Salman. For at that particular gathering, Salman was the only black man. From this fact, know then that there is good in black people.
In a Hadith reported by Sa`ad As Sa`idi, as mentioned in the book "Ruhul Bayan", the Prophet (pbuh) said that he had seen himself in a dream watering black goats, and after the black goats, pink goats. When he (pbuh) asked Abu Bakr (ra) to interpret the dream, Abu Bakr said, "O Prophet of Allah (pbuh), the black goats are the Arabs and the pink goats are the non-Arabs who come to follow you after the
[^page 128]

Arabs. At this the Prophet (pbuh) said, Yes, this is what the Angel Gabriel has also explained to me.
Consider the verse,
(Qur`an)
"O Mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you may despise each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted with all things (49:13)."

Allah has made this statement to prevent us from boasting on account of lineage. In other words, the most honored in the presence of Allah is the most righteous, even if he is an Abyssinian slave, black like Bilal (ra). If a person wants to boast, then let him boast with righteousness, for surely righteousness is only attained by virtue of the Mercy of Allah the Most High. Have you not seen the Hadith where the Prophet (pbuh) says, "I am the Master (Sayyid) of all Mankind, and it is no boast." There is no boasting on account of the Mastership or the Prophethood, but only on account of being the servant of Allah. And what honor to be the servant of Allah! As Muhammad (pbuh) is the slave of Allah, it is enough honor for a person to mention his being a slave, before the Prophethood, as contained in the declaration, "I bear witness that Muhammad is the servant and Messenger of God."
It has been reported that one day the Prophet (pbuh) passed by a market in Medina where he saw a black boy saying, "Whoever would buy me, I have one condition: that he can not prevent me from praying the five daily prayers behind the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)". A man bought the boy and the Prophet (pbuh) used to see that boy at every prayer. One day the Prophet (pbuh) did not see him at the Mosque, and when he (pbuh) inquired of him, he was told
[^page 129]

the boy was suffering from fever, and the Prophet (pbuh) himself went to visit him. When the Prophet (pbuh) asked about him a few days later, he was told the boy was on his death-bed, and the Prophet (pbuh) came to visit him again while he still had some movement and spirit in his body. And when the boy died, the Prophet (pbuh) himself bathed the boy. And it was at this point that great affairs entered into the affairs of the Muhajireen and the Ansar, and it was then that the verse was revealed to the Prophet (pbuh) that Allah is All-Knowing and aware of a person's secret conditions.
One Shaykh's son has said that lineage, even if it is considered with a person's habits and observance of the Shari`ah, prevents a Noble from marrying a lower class person. But this statement is rendered obsolete by the appearance of belief and righteousness, which are greater and dearer than lineage. And lineage in the face of righteousness, is as the stars that cease to appear when the sun rises. He who is disobedient to Allah, even if he is a descendent of the Noble Quraish tribe and wealthy like a king, such a man has no right or place beside a righteous believer even if the latter is an Abyssinian slave.

Friday prayer Alternative:
It is reported that an Arab came to the Prophet (PBUH) and said to him, "Oh Prophet of Allah (PBUH), we live at the country side and traveling all the way to the city of Medina for Juma Prayer is difficult, so guide us to a work which if I return to my people I can inform them and they will do it." The Prophet(PBUH) replied:
"If the sun rises on Friday, pray two rakats.
Recite in the first one after Fatiha, Qul A'uzu bi rabbil Falaq
and in the second rakat after Fatiha, Qul A'uzu bi rabbin Nas.
[^page 130]

Then you make Salaam.
After you recite Ayatul Kursi seven (7) times,
then you get up again to pray four (4) Rakats.
Recite in each one Fatiha, Iza Jaa Nasru-llahi wal fathu once and Qul Huwa-llahu Ahad twenty-five (25) times.
When you finish say: Wala Haula Wala Quwwata Illa Bi-llahil Aliyyul Azim, Seventy (70) times.
The Prophet (PBUH) said:
"I swear by Him who Muhammad's soul is in His hand, if a Muslim, man or woman prays such a salat as I have mentioned on Friday, Paradise is guaranteed for him or her, and all his sins are forgiven and a caller will announce under the throne of Allah saying, "Oh servant of Allah your sins are forgiven, past and present. Start the work and you will get the reward of Torah, Injil, Zabur and Furqan. And the reward of him who is making Tawwaf around the Kaaba and the reward of him who built the Masjid of Medina, and Baitul Maqdis. And his good deeds will be recorded according the numbers of stones and the leaves of the trees and the sands of Aluge (this is a place recorded to be sandy), and as if he met Moses and helped him."
Umm Zaid, the mother of ibn Thabit, came around the Arab and said, "I swear by my father and my mother, you have got this benefit but the reward to us is from you."
Abdur Rahman ibn Auf out of pleasure, gave the Arab man two cloths and 1000 dirhams and another man gave him a
[^page 131]

cloth and seventy (70) dinar and the man went to his tribe with joy and pleasure.
The writer said, "Nobody knows the virtue of this Hadith except Allah."
From the Book: Jawahr Al-Khams (The Five Jewels)

On verse 27 page 36 Allah says: "We have certainly created man to face difficulties" (Qur`an 90:4).

On verse 29 page 36 Allah says: "Surely with difficulty is ease" (Qur`an 94:5,6).

On verse 36 page 40 Allah says: "Who ever desires might, then to Allah belongs all might" (Qur`an 35:10).
