Random Thoughts (Sunday Night TV/Carolina Basketball edition)
Has there ever been a half hour sitcom as consistently funny as Arrested Development?
Anyone that answers my previous question with Seinfeld, Frazier or Friends gets unfriended.
Which is creepier to the average American male: the idea of Angelina Jolie sleeping with Billy Bob Thornton or Catherine Zeta Jones sleeping with Michael Douglas?
What woman decided that Sarah Jessica Parker is sexy? I'll guaran-damn-tee you that it wasn't a man that said so.
And apropos of nothing, The Black Table has a pretty decent short course on my adopted home state of North Carolina:
"...you know deep down that there's a land just teeming with top-flight schools drawing discontented Northerners by the SUV load; high-flying rim rattlers who just win, baby; and ready-to-barbecue pigs that wouldn't fly away even if they could."
In their seventh game in seventeen days and only the second at home, the Tar Heels pretty handily dispatched the Kentucky Wildcats just three days after beating the Hoosiers on their home floor. The thing I found remarkably different about this team than last was that at no time did I get the sense that we might lose either game. In both cases, the other team managed to cut some pretty impressive leads down to 6 or 7 points, but there was never any indication that the Heels would then wilt like they did last year. In fact, last year you just kind of waited for the inevitable meltdown, the expected loss of confidence resulting in a blown big lead and a loss. This season, that's the farthest thing from any player or any fan's mind. It just doesn't feel like it's gonig to happen. Admittedly I've had little opportunity to see other teams play this year, but I'm not hesistant to call this editions of the Tar Heels Final Four material. I really believe they're that good.
There's rightfully a lot of talk about Rashad McCants 20+ ppg but what hasn't been nearly as obvious has been the 16.5 point per game from Jawad Williams. Add that to 10 rebounds per game from Sean May and almost 8 assists each game from Felton and you've got some pretty impressive stats. This could be special!
After working every night last week (including Friday night) and putting in another 4-5 hours today, I'm 'bout ready for a break! My brain hurts.
