Welcome

This Week's Quote:

"If you close the door, the night could last forever
leave the sunshine out and say hello to never
All the people are dancing and they're having such fun
I wish it could happen to me
But if you close the door, I'd never have to see the day again"

-- The Velvet Undergound, "After Hours," Self-Titled (1969)

Live at the Mercury Cafe, 10-29-08

This site will primarily be used to keep people updated on the status of my music -- times of open mike nights, info on new albums, etc. Other uses may come up later, but I also plan to use it to express a deep though every now and then.

My Forms of Entertainment:

Favorite Musical Artists (no order):

Elliott Smith, Beth Orton, A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails, Foo Fighters, Everclear, The Counting Crows, Fiona Apple, Rachael Yamagata, John Lennon, and many many more.

Favorite TV Shows:

Don't watch much TV anymore -- How I Met Your Mother, Bones, Battlestar Gallactica (the new one), I miss alot of old shows like The Outer Limits, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Farscape, Space Above and Beyond and basically anything that was well written. This is why I don't like as many comedies (it's the same joke over and over again).

Favorite Movies:

Edward Scissorhands, Fight Club, White Oleander, High Fidelity, A Fish Called Wanda, Apocalypse Now, Good Will Hunting, Pleasantville, The Cutting Edge (skating), Natural Born Killers.

Favorite Books:

The Great Gatsby, Requiem for a Dream, A Clockwork Orange, Tender is the Night, Notes from the Underground (I know, I know, read something happier).

If you agree/disagree with any of these, you can ask me about it.

My Hobbies

I play guitar, sing, write, and play guitar. I also write poetry and short stories. I'm more of a writer than anything else. I hang out with my friends whom I love dearly, whenever possible. I do go to the movies and watch some TV but my main problem is that most mainstream entertainment lacks intelligence and vision. I don't have much time to read books between work and classes (college). Mostly, I'm into music. For specific examples of entertainment/ideas that I like, see above.  My collection is typically either "heavy" or "mid-range" but I am not opposed to mainstream or pop music as long as they carry some level of deepness and artistic integrity (Dave Matthews, Maroon 5, Sheryl Crow, Fiona Apple, etc).

Most Admired

John Lennon, Kurt Cobain, Elliott Smith -- their music lives on forever
