First off the hard part, make sure your child is neither to awake nor too sleepy. The more tired a child is the harder for
them to settle down. Next you need a calming routine, it can be elaborate or simple, long or short but so long as it is consistent
and winds the child down ending in their bed it will work. Then you have to help them learn the skills to sleep. So far
as I know you have 3 options:
Wait till they tell you to stop rocking them (or whatever you do)
Fade out (slow gradual weaning to self sleep)
CIO (Cry It Out)
